AEW Results – June 24th 2020. Road to Fyter Fest

With Fyter Fest quickly approaching, things are bound to get interesting.

Wardlow defeated Luchasaurus via Pinfall (F-10)

It was a lumberjack match with two athletic big men. We had a visual pin for Luchasaurus before Jungle Boy spearing MJF through the ropes distracted him, allowing Wardlow to capitalise.

Hikaru Shida defeated Red Velvet via Pinfall (Falcon Arrow)

Penelope Ford tried to throw Shida off her game before the bell rang. What in fact happened was Shida beat her opponent in record time, allowing her to focus on the Bad Girl. The two eventually had to be separated.

There’s a press conference for the upcoming TNT Championship match between Cody and Jake Hager. Hager turns up late. Hager’s wife throws water in Cody’s face. A fun time was had by all.

Brodie Lee and Colt Cabana defeated Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss via Pinfall

Competitive as this match was, it resulted in Lee offering Janela as a sacrifice for Cabana, who greedily takes the win.

While Sonny and Joey attempt to pick up the pieces, they’re jumped by Lance Archer, who we later find out will be wrestling The Bad Boy at Fyter Fest.

FTR defeated SCU via Pinfall (Goodnight Express)

Slick tag wrestling.

Afterwards, Dax Harwood gets on the mic to call them “the baddest”, but are interrupted by The Butcher and The Blade. In FTR’s pick up truck.

A challenge is laid down, they’re jumped from behind and the match for next week is confirmed – Young Bucks and FTR vs. The Butcher, The Blade and the Lucha Bros.

Brian Cage defeated Jon Cruz via Pinfall (Drill Claw)

This match, well it was quick.

Afterwards, Taz calls out Moxley for his absence, claiming the global pandemic as an excuse used by the champion.

Brodie Lee calls out SCU for a six man tag, much to Colt Cabana’s dismay.

Britt Baker, who has been passing derogatory notes to Tony Schiavone all night from a plexiglass cube, gets garbage poured all over her by Big Swole.

Matt Hardy defeated Santana via Pinfall (Rollup)

Essentially a handicap match, Santana somehow managed to lose. He and Ortiz hit the Street Sweeper on Hardy after the bell, with Private Party running in too late to save their mentor.

Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy come face to face. Jericho calls Cassidy a joke, claims he’ll need a miracle to beat Le Champion and specifically asks Cassidy not to do his shin kicks.

Cassidy does his shin kicks.

The show ends with Orange Cassidy standing tall after an arena wide brawl ends with Jericho through a table.
