AEW Tops 900,000 Viewers | Wrestling News Update, March 19, 2020

AEW SCORES BIG WITH CLOSED SET SHOW

AEW Dynamite averaged 932,000 viewers on Wednesday night, up 22 percent from last week. It did very well, considering many are focused on the news coverage regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.

The viewership was the best number for Dynamite since January 15th. They finished 20th in the 18-49 demo. They managed was a 0.35, up 35 percent from last week.

NXT’s show with no live wrestling action and video packages building up their current feuds averaged 542,000 viewers, down 22 percent from last week. The viewership was the lowest to date on USA Network. The 18-49 demo number was the second-lowest, trailing only the January 1 episode, which was a Best Of show.

WWE SHOW AT MSG GETS NEW DATE

The new date has been set for WWE’s next house show at Madison Square Garden has been announced. The show is now currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 27th instead of this weekend, which was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Sunday’s event was supposed to be part of WWE’s Road to WrestleMania house show tour. It was going to feature an appearance by D-Generation X (Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, and Road Dogg).

WWE SOUTH AFRICA HOUSE SHOW RESCHEDULED

WWE’s house show in South Africa has been rescheduled, due to the the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Originally meant to begin in Cape Town on Wednesday, April 29th, Durban on Thursday, April 20th, and Johannesburg on both Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd, the shows will now take place Thursday, September 10th, 11th, and 12th respectively.

SPECIAL EDITIONS OF WWE BACKSTAGE AND THE BUMP TO AIR

WWE are putting on special editions of their programmes ‘WWE Backstage’ and ‘The Bump’ this week.

The WWE On FOX Twitter account has announced a special WWE Backstage Watch With programme for later tonight at 10PM ET/2AM GMT. Renee Young and Paige will re-watch two matches; Emma vs. Paige to crown the first-ever WWE NXT Women’s Champion from the July 24, 2013 NXT episode, plus Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair to crown the inaugural WWE Women’s Champion from WrestleMania 32.

WWE Backstage production has been suspended through at least this Friday due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, a special edition of WWE’s The Bump will be airing this Friday on WWE’s digital platforms, as revealed on their social media accounts.. There was no new episode this Wednesday due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but a “Best Of” episode did air.
