AJ STYLES INJURED DURING RUMBLE

Unfortunetly, Dave Meltzer has confirmed the suspected injury to AJ Styles. The injury occured during the men’s Royal Rumble match, Styles was working with Edge, took a spear and flipped onto his shoulder. He imdediatly grabbed the shoulder and remained down for serveral minuted while talking to medics at ringside. After some time he made his way to his feet, only to be eliminated by Edge in short order.

Dave has reported that AJ seperated his shoulder while taking the bump, while he gave no further details on the injury, it will undoubtably need a scan to assess the extent of the damage to the joint.

LESNAR AND RIDDLE INVOLVED IN ALTERCATION AT RUMBLE

According to multiple sources, Matt Riddle and Brock Lesnar, got into an altercation backstage at the Royal Rumble last night.

While all the details arn’t in, and reports vary, it does seem that the two former UFC man shared a tense encounter with words exchanged between the pair.

One source noted that Brock wanted to set Riddle straight and remind him of the reality of the situation. ProWrestlingSheet.com

Riddle has spoken reapeatidly about wanting to be Brock’s last match in not so flattering terms, the following quote is taken from an interview he gave to NXT:

“Retiring Brock… it’s no secret. That’s been the goal since I started wrestling, since the very beginning,” Riddle revealed. “I like to set goals that seem impossible. Only one person can retire Brock Lesnar, only one person can end his career, and that person’s going to be me.”

ROYAL RUMBLE ATTENDANCE

WWE has announced the attendance for last night’s Royal Rumble. The announced figure was 42,715, which is a stadium record, WWE attendance figure should always be treating with a pinch of salt, especially when records are involved.

This year’s Royal Rumble was held at Minute Maid Park in Houston, who previously has a record attendance of 42,095 for a Taylor Swift and Nelly concert in 2011.

SASHA BANKS NOT CURRENTLY CLEARED FOR ACTION

After last night’s women’s Royal, many were left with questions after the suspicious absence of The Boss, Sasha Banks.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com has reported that Sasha Banks wasn’t cleared for the Rumble match. Sasha hasn’t competed since the 3rd of January when she was invoved in a tag match, teaming with Bayley to face Dana Brooke and Lacey Evans, and Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss. Sasha took an extended period of time off last year, reportidly dealing with post concussion syndrome.

NEW RAW COMMENTARY TEAM SET TO DEBUT TONIGHT

WWE is reportidly set to change the RAW commentary team once again. This time the booth will consists of Jerry Lawler and Tom Phillips, with the services of Vic Joseph apparently, no longer required.

The story came from the @WrestleVotes twitter account, it should be noted that Lawler and Philips worked the rumble with out any issues just last night.

EDGE TO APPEAR ON RAW TONIGHT

WWE Hall of Famer Edge is set to appear on RAW tonight, following his shocking return at the Royal Rumble.

Edge shocking returned after a nine-year hiatus to WWE, coming within an eyelash of winning the 30-man contest.

Also on tonight’s episode, Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy will defend their RAW Tag Team Titles against Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens.

WWE CONFIRMS NEXT SAUDI SHOW

During last night’s Royal Rumble, WWE confirmed that their next trip to Saudi Arabia would take place at the end of February.

Tom Phillips announced that the show would be held in Riyadh, and the date is held for the 27th of February. The event will be known as a Super ShowDown, but toher than that, nothing else is currently known.

This will be the companies frist journey to the country since Crown Jewel and the travel chaos that befell the wrestlers returning home.

KOTA IBUSHI SUFFERING SERIOUS CONDITION

According to Hochi News, the reason Kota was pulled from The New Beginning USA tour is much more serious than the flu.

Ibushi himself has confirmed that he has been diagnosed with Mallory Weiss Syndrome, a painful condition where the boundary of the stomach and the esophagus become damaged.

Kota posted a message on Twitter, showing a feaver of 40.2 C, saying he can’t move much and was suffering hallucinations.

Translation of the post:

Good morning. I’m sorry for the local fans who were looking forward to the American Games. It was a hell of flu and Mallory-Weiss syndrome. I still can’t move much, but I’ll try to cure it a little better. I saw hallucinations for the first time in my life. I guess that was the only thing I got.

KARL FREDERICKS TO MISS REMAINDER OF TOUR

Karl Fredericks has been pulled from the NJPW New Beginning USA Tour due to a shoulder injury.

NJPW released a statement confirming the injury, and Karls resulting withdrawal from tour. Please see below:

Karl Fredericks has suffered an injury to his right shoulder, and as a result will not be able to compete on the remainder of the New Beginning USA tour as of January 27.

Changes have been made to the remaining three nights of the tour, with the details outlined below.

Karl and NJPW would like to apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing him compete. We appreciate your understanding.

His injury means he will miss the final three dates. NJPW also released updated cards for the three events detailing the changes they planned to make, please see below:

January 27 (Durham, North Carolina):

  • Misterioso vs. Yujiro Takahashi
  • Yuji Nagata and Satoshi Kojima vs. Alex Coughlin and TJP
  • Jeff Cobb vs. Clark Connors
  • YOSHI-HASHI, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Juice Robinson, and David Finlay vs. Jado, Chase Owens, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa

January 30 (Pembroke Pines, Florida):

AEW’S SAMMY GUEVARA RECREATES DX INVASION AT THE RUMBLE

Before the Rumble started yesterday, AEW’s Sammy Guevara couldn’t resist having some fun, and declared war on WWE at Minute Maid Park.

Bringing his own mock tank, Sammy had a good go at recreating the famous DX invasion of WCW Nitro.

FORMER WCW STAR ARRESTED FOR DUI AND ALLEGED HIT AND RUN

Van Hammer, real name Mark Hildreth, has been arrested and charged with DUI. This happened after he allegedly hit a five year old with his car.

TMZ quotes the Boynton Beach police report, stating that Hildreth was driving 58 in a 35 while drunk. According to the report he hit the child while the child was on his bike. All reports say the boy is stable in hospital.

Van Hammer appeared before a court this morning, he was formally charged with first degree felony hit and run and DUI. His bail was set at $125,000.
