GOLDBERG VS. THE FIEND SET FOR SAUDI ARABIA

Announced on last night’s episode of SmackDown, Goldberg will face the Fiend the next time the WWE rolls into Saudi Arabia. Super ShowDown is taking place in Riyadh on Thursday, February 27.

Goldberg appeared via satellite to challenge Bray for the Universal Championship. Bill said that his run with the title in 2017 was too short, and he never received a rematch for the belt.

Bray interrupted Goldberg to accept the challenge there and then. This will be the second time Goldberg has wrestled on a Saudi based show, taking part in an infamous match with The Undertaker at last year’s Super ShowDown.

EIGHT MAN TAG MATCH SET FOR RAW

WWE has announced a huge eight-man tag match set for Monday’s episode of RAW.

Current RAW tag team champions, Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins team with AOP to take on Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and The Viking Raiders. This will be Joe’s first match since suffering a concussion on RAW a few weeks back.

The eight men have been going back and forth for a few weeks now, with almost all of them getting involved in last week’s main event. Seth Rollins was facing Ricochet and Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match, the winner going on to face Brock Lesnar at Super ShowDown at the end of February. AOP and Buddy Murphy came to the ring to help Seth win, while the Viking Raiders also came down to the ring to even the numbers.

BUDDY MURPHY SUFFERS NAME SHORTENING

A fate which has befallen many a superstar over the last 18 months, Buddy Murphy has had his name shortened. The star, who will now be known simply as just Murphy, only joined the RAW brand this past October.

Murphy joined NXT in November 2013, staying there until joining 205 Live in February of 2018. From June of 2019, Murphy was slowly introduced to the main roster, taking part in SmackDown Live dark matches against Ali, before facing Roman Reigns in a 14-minute match on the 13th of August episode of SmackDown. Murphy and Rollins won the RAW Tag Team Titles on the 20th of January this year. He has also held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, and the NXT Tag Team titles with Blake in 2015.

MELTZER SPECULATES ON IICONICS ABSENCE

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that the Iiconics have been removed from TV.

While Dave has no details as to the purpose of the removal, he speculates that they are to be repackaged. He does go on to say that that plan was to return them to the television package in the future.

The pair haven’t had a match since a loss to Becky Lynch and Charlotte on the 18th on November episode of RAW. While they were never regulars, having matches sporadically, they have been missed, with fans looking forward to their eventual return.

CHEESEBURGER RE-SIGNS WITH ROH

ROH announced today that fan favourite, Cheeseburger, has signed a new agreement with the promotion.

Cheeseburger originally debuted with the company in 2013, with his debut match being for the ROH Tag Team titles. Cheeseburger teamed with Roderick Strong in a losing effort, falling to Robby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.

ROH ADD MARIA MANIC TO SUPERCARD OF HONOR

ROH has announced that Maria Manic will be part of this year’s Supercard of Honor.

Maria has only been with the company since December 2019 but has already featured in some big storylines, including being put through a table by Bully Ray at Final Battle.

EXTREME RULES 2020 SET FOR SAN JOSE

WWE announced to the fans attending last night’s SmackDown episode. Extreme Rules will be held at SAP Center, San Jose, California.

Extreme Rules has never been held in San Jose, with the last two shows coming from Pennsylvania, with 2019 being held at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, and 2018 at the PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh.

WWE has visited San Jose five times so far. Starting in 1998 when it played host to the Royal Rumble, 2001’s SummerSlam, 2007’s Great American Bash, 2017’s Payback, 2018’s TLC event.
