CHRIS JERICHO PUBLICLY ASKS FOR AEW NJPW ARRANGEMENT

AEW’s World Champion, Chris Jericho, has asked for there to be a working relationship between AEW and NJPW in a press conference.

Jericho fought and defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi during yesterday’s second day of Wrestle Kingdom 14. Before the match Tanahashi has spoken about ‘opening the forbidden door’ in reference to the two companies doing business together. Currently there is no relationship, though chatter about the possiblity of it happening has been increasing recently. Jericho has said before the match that if he lost he’d be willing to give Tanahashi a shot at the AEW World Championship. During the broadcast, both commentary team metioned AEW and Jericho’s title, a belt Chris wore to the ring.

Following the match, Jericho went one step further in the post-fight press conference. Jericho asked for the bad blood between both companies to end. Jericho noted that his winning meant Hiroshi wouldn’t be coming to AEW for another match, but said he’d be more than happy to face him again down the line.

“Put aside all the hurt feelings, put aside all the egos, put aside all of the issues and politics and concentrate on great wrestling matches and big business. I haven’t been doing this at the highest of levels for 29 years as what some people say as the greatest of all time because I’m a stupid businessman. I can see the amount of money that we can make together with AEW and New Japan, both here in Japan and in the United States and Canada and England and Australia and all around the world. So even though I beat Tanahashi tonight, I would be more than willing to wrestle him again any time and I would be more than willing to give him an AEW title shot, and Okada and Naito and Suzuki and Ibushi and Ospreay.”
