WWE SECOND QUARTER EARNING REPORT RELEASED
This morning the WWE released its financial report for the second quarter of 2019. As far as financial reports go, this one had a large amount of interest when the WWE’s current position is considered. WWE has been haemorrhaging viewers for some time, with the start of the year seeing some of the lowest viewed episodes of all time. This comes against the backdrop of WWE being poised to move SmackDown to FOX in the US, and all WWE programming to BT Sport in the UK. When we look outside of WWE, AEW has recently set up shop. With a host of former WWE stars and some of the biggest names from the independent circuit, the newest promotion already seems to mean business. With all this considered it is no wonder so many reports are emerging of shareholder unhappiness.
Operating income falls to $17.1 million. This is an almost 20% drop last year. To add misery to this, Network subscribers were also down 6%, and the company predicts a further contraction in the next quarter.
In some positive news coming from the report, digital video views jumped to 9 billion, up 17%. Also, the number of hours of content consumed was up 22% to 324 million hours.
NWA AND ROH AMICABLY SPLIT

It has also been noted that Nick Aldis, the current NWA Champion, is no longer advertised for August’s Summer Supercard. At the event, Aldis was set to defend his NWA title against Marty Scurll.

CM PUNK TALKS ABOUT STARRCAST III AND ALL OUT
Ahead of his upcoming appearance at Starrcast III, CM Punk recently spoke to ESPN about the build-up to the event and what he will and won’t be doing. There was a huge amount of speculation around Punk possibly taking to the ring during ALL OUT, but Punk assured everyone that this wasn’t the case. When asking why he’d agreed to do Starrcast, Punk responded:
“They asked if I wanted to do Starrcast. That’s basically it, there’s no mad scientist formula to it. I hate travelling. I’ve turned down offers to do signings in other places. It turns into a mission to leave town just to do a signing and stuff. I like to take time with everybody and make sure everybody has a good experience. I try not to just shuffle people through a line. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s not just somebody shoves something in front of me, I sign it and it’s on to the next. I really try to make sure everybody has a story to tell or an experience. Sometimes it can be exhausting. The biggest thing was it’s in my hometown. I get to go for one day, I get to have fun, I get to give back to the fans, so to speak. And I get to go home and rest afterwards.”
When pushed on whether he’d be appearing at ALL OUT, or if there was even a relationship between himself and the company, Punk was blunt with his answer:
“No, I know they like to talk about me a lot. If I text Matt Jackson, ‘Hey, have a great show tonight,’ which I did when they had their big show in Vegas, that somehow turns into Tony Khan telling people he has a great relationship with me. I’ve said in the past I’ve talked to them, but nothing ever came of anything.”
