The second day of The New Beginning in Sapporo saw new champions, a faction implode and long lost friends reunite.

In shocking fashion, Jay White dethroned Kenny Omega to capture the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title, after wriggling out of the One Winged Angle and planting Omega with Bladerunner for the championship victory. However, the drama was not yet over as Hangman Page appeared to seemingly challenge White for the title. However, Omega shoved Page away and gave White the belt in a seeming sign of respect.

This brought out Cody, who got into a verbal altercation with Omega, which then involved several members of Bullet Club. It came to a head when Omega pushed Matt Jackson down, leading to The Young Bucks walking away from the situation. Following, this it seems cooler heads had prevailed, with Page, Scurll, Cody and Omega all shaking hands and leaving. However, when Omega went to exit the ring, Cody snapped and delivered a brutal Cross Rhodes to ‘The Cleaner’ as a shocked Marty Scurll looked on. Cody grabbed a chair to finish the job, but Kota Ibushi ran down to save Kenny. Following a tense stand off, Ibushi and Omega embraced and it seems The Golden Lovers ride again.

It was a terrible night for the B.C as The Young Bucks lost their newly won IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles, back to the former champions Roppongi 3K. Yoh shocked Matt Jackson with an inside cradle to become two-time champs.

Aside from our title matches, we had our usual tag and multi-man matches between the various factions in New Japan. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, EVIL, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, & Tetsuya Naito) bested Chaos (Gedo, Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, & YOSHI-HASHI) when SANADA made Gedo submit with the Skull End. However, the issues between YOSHI-HASHI and Naito continued when YOSHI-HASHI had to be held back from attacking him once again, but Naito as ever remained ‘Tranquilo’.

In happier times, Bullet Club (Cody Rhodes, Hangman Page, & Marty Scurll) got a win over David Finlay, Kota Ibushi, & KUSHIDA by pinfall with Rite of Passage from Page on KUSHIDA. They also won in six-man tag team action, as Bad Luck Fale, Chase Owens, Tama Tonga, & Tanga Roa beat the team of Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Manabu Nakanishi, Togi Makabe, & Tomoyuki Oka by pinfall with a package piledriver from Owens on Oka.

Suzuki-gun (El Desperado, Taichi, TAKA Michinoku, & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) bested Jushin Liger, Ryusuke Taguchi, Shota Umino, & Tiger Mask IV by pinfall with a thrust kick from Taichi on Umino. After the match, Suzuki-gun continued the beat down and unmasked the legendary Tiger Mask, even putting his mask on Miho Abe at one point. They also got a tag team victory as Minoru Suzuki & Takashi Iizuka over Michael Elgin & Toa Henare by submission with a kneebar from Suzuki on Henare. Post match, Suzuki-Gun put the boots on Henare until Togi Makabe made the save.

Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano got a win over Bullet Club members Hikuleo & Yujiro Takahashi via pinfall with Yano’s patented low blow and roll-up combination on Hikuleo.

Finally, Katsuya Kitamura is 0-3 in his Challenge Series, as he went down to Juice Robinson and Pulp Friction.
