NXT UK Superstars Wrestle Final Independent Dates | Wrestling News Update, 15th February 2020

With news on two NXT UK superstars finishing up on the independent scene, Matty Deller brings you the Wrestling News Update.

BAYLEY TO DEFEND WOMEN’S TITLE AT SUPER SHOWDOWN

Super ShowDown 2020 will include WWE’s first-ever Women’s Championship match that takes place in Saudi Arabia.

It has been announced that Carmella and Naomi will face off on SmackDown next week to determine who will challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Title in Saudi Arabia.

Super ShowDown is taking place at Mohammed Abdu Arena on the Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday, February 27th.

GOLDBERG TO APPEAR LIVE ON NEXT WEEK’S SMACKDOWN

Goldberg will be making an appearance on next week’s SmackDown ahead of his match against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for the Universal title at Super ShowDown.

Goldberg appeared on last weeks episode of SmackDown via satellite to challenge Wyatt for a title match.

SmackDown next week will be at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

SETH ROLLINS TO HOLD A ‘SERMON’ ON RAW

WWE have announced that Seth Rollins will hold a “sermon” on Monday Night.

On WWE.com’s preview, they have said;

Hot off the heels of a decisive (if slightly underhanded) Eight-Man Tag Team victory, Seth Rollins will host a “sermon” this Monday on Raw. What, exactly, The Monday Night Messiah will preach to the masses is anybody’s guess, and Rollins is keeping his cards close to the vest on this one. Nevertheless, this Monday, he intends to lay out the path to salvation before us. Who will walk it?

GRIZZLED YOUNG VETERANS HAVE FINAL INDEPENDENT MATCH

At Futureshock Wrestling’s ‘Underground 37’ former NXT UK Tag Team Champions Grizzled Young Veterans have announced they have wrestled their last matches on the independent scene.

Zack Gibson and James Drake are set to become full-time NXT superstars, following James Drake’s victory over his younger brother Rob. Zack Gibson ended his independent career against Fighting Spirit school graduate Ethan Kelly.

Gibson and Drake recently competed in the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Classic.

WILL OSPREAY ANNOUNCES MOVE TO HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Following his British Heavyweight Title win, Will Ospreay has declared he is now moving up to the heavyweight class.

On his social media account, Ospreay said;

“7 years put to rest. New British Heavyweight Champion. I will now officially make the jump and be competing in the Heavyweight division.”

Last night at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s High Stakes, Ospreay defeated Zack Sabre Jr. to capture the gold in front of a packed York Hall in Bethnal Green.

FLAMITA AND MARIA MANIC INJURED AT ROH FREE ENTERPRISE

Ring of Honor’s Kevin Eck has revealed both Flamita and Maria Manic were injured at this past Sunday’s ROH Free Enterprise in Baltimore.

Flamita sustained a torn meniscus during his tag match with Bandido against The Briscoes and there is no word on his return. Maria Manic suffered a neck injury after being powerbombed through the announce table by Bully Ray during a 20-person battle royal.

Manic is said to be out of action indefinitely.
