PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 66 ‘Mardi Graps’ Results

Check out the story from PROGRESS’ first ever main chapter show outside of the United Kingdom, Chapter 66 – Mardi Graps.

PROGRESS made a little bit of history as they held their first ever main chapter show outside of the United Kingdom, as they brought their brand of professional wrestling to New Orleans.

In front of a wild Pontchartrain Convention & Civic Center, Travis Banks retained his PROGRESS World Heavyweight Championship against Shane Strickland, when he hit The King of Swerve with a Kiwi Crusher from the top rope.

Our other title match also saw the champions hold on to their belts as the PROGRESS World Tag Team Champions, Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) beat Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven and Tyler Bate), following an assisted Ticket To Ride onto Tyler Bate. This also means that the British Strong Style duo cannot wrestle for the PROGRESS Tag Titles for six months.

The second bit of PROGRESS history was made as we had a second Thunderbastard match for the first time ever, in which Jeff Cobb outlasted eight other men. He saw off Parrow, MJF, Darby Allin, Austin Theory, Joey Janela, Rickey Shane Page and Chris Brookes; lastly beating Brookes with The Tour Of The Islands, ensuring him a title shot in the future.

The war between Mark Andrews and Eddie Dennis cannot be contained in one country or continent as Dennis travelled to NOLA even thought he was injured to berate his former partner.  Following his loss in a triple threat match against Pete Dunne and Flash Morgan Webster in which Mandrews fell to a Bitter End Tombstone, Dennis entered the ring and declared that he “will follow you around the world until you hit me in the face”. Andrews once again refused and walked away, ensuring that Dennis’ campaign of hate will continue.

In tag-team action, Ringkampf (PROGRESS Atlas Champion WALTER and Timothy Thatcher) bested David Starr and WWN Champion Keith Lee (who filled in for a departed Jack Sexsmith) when WALTER dropped Starr with a powerbomb.

This chapter was one to forget for Vicky Haskins. Not only did Flash Morgan Webster come up short, but both her other men came up short as well. Will Ospreay beat Mark Haskins with an Oscutter and Matt Riddle saw off Jimmy Havoc with the bromission in a wild encounter.

Finally, Jinny and Mercedes Martinez beat the duo of PROGRESS World Women’s Champion Toni Storm and Shazza McKenzie. Martinez picked up the win with a fishermans buster on McKenzie as Jinny dropped the champ with a shot to the ring post.

Only sad news to report is that PROGRESS World Champion Travis Banks and Darby Allin both suffered injuries in the event.
