OSPREAY RESPONDS TO CRITICISM

Will Ospreay recently tweeted, commenting on the hate he receives and why he may deserve a portion of it.

The story goes back to another message Ospreay posted, this time the post originated in January of this year. In the post, Ospreay criticised Sadie Gibbs and implied that she hadn’t ‘stepped up to the plate’ while working in Japan.

Returning to the present, after Will won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title at Dominion he came in for some flack on the internet. In short, a portion of the audience claimed that Will wasn’t deserving of his third run with the belt. The January tweet was used as a focal point for many of the messages.

A fan of Will’s spoke up to defend him, pointing out the good work he has done. The fan tagged Will in the message, to which Ospreay responded. Ospreay said that he understood the hate he received and spoke of unspecific errors he had made on social media. He closed the short message promising to do his best going forward. He also noted the impact unfortunate behaviour could have on his profile and that of the wider company he represents.

SASHA BANKS LIKES TWEET CRITICISING WWE

Sasha Banks is still to return to the WWE fold following her Wrestlemania loss to the IIconics. The Boss still seems adamant that she wants to quit, although anything concrete is hard to come by.

Recently Sasha’s only real communication with her fan base has been through cryptic messages and artful photographs. With her social media accounts under such scrutiny at present, her latest move, while minor, has raised some eyebrows.

Yesterday a fan posted a message criticising the current WWE product. The message was quite savage, referring to WWE as a “shitty company”, and express their general dissatisfaction with the “current bullshit”. This in itself is nothing special. What is far more interesting is when a highly disaffected major star likes the post.

SASHA BANKS FILMS FOR WWE 2K20

PWInsider has reported that Sasha Banks started filming today for upcoming video game 2K20. The star who is currently missing from WWE following a dispute over her creative direction was reportedly in Florida filming sequences for the game.

While it was thought that a meeting with Vince in May might have resolved the situation, her current social media activity may say otherwise.

AEW SIGN FORMER WWE BACKSTAGE NAME

Although the name maybe isn’t one you’ve heard of, AEW signing Rafael Morffi has been described as a ‘big hire’ in the press. Rafael is the former Senior Director of Live Events Marketing for WWE. Other than WWE, Morffi has worked for the New York Mets and New York Cosmos. He also owns the production company ‘Signature Move Productions’. Through his production company, he has worked with a veritable who’s who of wrestling companies, including Impact, MLW, and Tommy Dreamer’s promotion, House of Hardcore.

PROGRESS WRESTLING ANNOUNCE CHANGES TO THE JULY WEEKENDER

Travis Banks will be unavailable, due to commitments with the WWE. Jonathan Gresham will not be able to attend the Newcastle show due to scheduling issues.

While both of these items are unfortunate, Progress did leave us with a silver lining, booking Jordan Devlin vs. Ilja Dragunov in a Number 1 contenders match. The match will be held at ‘Prog on the Tyne’, the 6th of July at the O2 Academy Newcastle.
