KURT ANGLE’S FAREWELL MATCH ANNOUNCED

Last night’s episode of RAW was announcement heavy, with the company moving into high gear pushing on to WrestleMania. One of the biggest announcements of the night came from Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle.

During last nights episode of RAW, Kurt came to the ring and announced that he is to have his farewell match at WrestleMania 35.

“At WrestleMania, I will compete in my farewell match. I’d like to thank the WWE, I’d like to thank every superstar I’ve shared the locker room with, but most importantly, I’d like to thank each and every one of you.”

Kurt went on to “have his last match” in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Angle first signed with the WWE in the summer of 1998. He trained under Dory Funk Jr. and had his first match in front of a live audience after less than a week. With his first stint with the company finishing in 2006 due to health concerns, Angle then moved to TNA. Kurt returned to the WWE in 2017 after also working with NJPW, AAA and various other independent promotions.

Later backstage, Kurt spoke to WWE.com and explained the reason for his impending retirement.

“It was really tough for me to come to the decision. It’s actually been nipping at me for the past year. I’m 50 years old, I know I’m not the same as i used to be, I’m slower in the ring. I can still get the job done, btu if I can’t perform like the Kurt Angle of 2006, I don’t want to perform at all.

When asked about who he may face, Kurt responded:

“There were alot of names that were thrown in there, from Cena to AJ Styles, Samoa Joe to Drew Macintire, Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, so you never know who it’s going to be.”

HUGE WRESTLEMANIA MATCH MADE ON RAW

Another announcement to come out of last night’s RAW was a huge match being added to the WrestleMania card. Announced last night was a no hold barred match featuring Triple H and Batista. Batista has been after this match for a long time, speaking of a desire to return to the WWE to face Triple H at WrestleMania in many interviews over the years. With the original reappearance taking place at SmackDown 1000, many had wondered if Batista was going to become more involved. With his actions during Ric Flairs 70th birthday celebration confirming this and hinting at the WrestleMania match ‘The Animal’ had desired.

WRESTLEMANIA 35 HOST ANNOUNCED

Alexia Bliss has been announced as this year’s host of WrestleMania. The announcement came during her ‘Moment of Bliss’segment on this week’s RAW. Speaking during her segment, Bliss said:

“Let me present to you this years host of WrestleMania… It’s me, everyone it’s me, I’m the host of this year’s WrestleMania, I mean oh my gosh, I can’t believe this, I’m in total shock! I don’t have anything prepared! I guess the only thing I can say is the it’s such an honour… for the WWE universe, you are welcome.”

Writing on WWE.com, the company said:

Alexa Bliss will be the host of WrestleMania. The major news was revealed by the five-time Women’s Champion, who chose her “A Moment of Bliss” talk show on the March 11 edition of Raw to make the announcement.

The special honor puts Bliss in rare company, as she joins The New Day and The Rock as one of the few Superstars to ever hold court as Master of Ceremonies on The Grandest Stage of Them All. With all the surprises that have highlighted her talk show thus far, The Goddess is sure to have plenty of tricks up her sleeve to help make WrestleMania a night of total bliss.

HUGE WWE STAR ADDED TO UK TOUR

Roman Reigns has been confirmed for the WWE annual tour of the UK. The conformation came via the WWE UK Twitter feed. Although the star was sidelined late last year with the reemergence of leukaemia, he returned on the 25th of February episode of RAW and announced that he was in remission.

WWE REMOVES WATCH ALONG VIDEO

WWE has removed the entirety of the watch-along video recorded during Fastlane. The interesting new feature allowed the WWE fans to watch WWE superstars interacting and discussing the event while it was happening.

Unfortunately, during the filming, some of the antics were decidedly non-PG. The worst of the bunch was Nigel McGinness using the F-word while the stream was live, but there were a few other choice moments that WWE higher-ups might not want being promoted in the public domain. All this happened even while there was a full set of rules regarding behavior during filming, apparently, the very first rule was no swearing.

With WWE totally removing the video it seems unlikely that a follow up will be produced, which is a shame as it allowed a small peek into the backstage world.

In other news, WWE has announced that they’ve passed 1 billion social media followers.
