WWE REMOVES WORD FROM THE BANNED LIST

In 2008 a document surfaced with a list of words Vince and other WWE brass had banned from broadcast. There were many interesting terms on the list including, war, performance, DQ, hospital, talent, fans, etc. Dave Meltzer recently noted that WWE has removed the word ‘belt’ from the list. It’s not known if this was done before or after Becky Lynch started referring to herself as ‘two belts Becky’.

IBUSHI EXTENDS NJPW CONTRACT

In February Kota Ibushi announced that he had signed a deal with NJPW keeping him with the promotion until 2021. This was relatively unexpected, many assumed he would be following Kenny Omega to AEW. At the time Kota was working under a far looser contract with many putting this down to a lack of commitment on the part of one of NJPW’s brightest talents.

This contrasts heavily with the language Kota used in an NJPW press conference. It seems the star may have plans to extend his new contract already saying:

“To me, this is the last place I’ll be. Until the day I die. Until the end. That’s my contract period.”

Kota has spoken about the reasons he decided not to join AEW. In an interview in February with ShuPro, he said that he was concerned that joining AEW would stop him developing as a wrestler. He said that after going to AEW there would be nowhere else for him to go.

“The ideal for them was for me to move to America and be there full-time. I turned them down just after Wrestle Kingdom. … If I went it would be the end of my career. There wouldn’t be anywhere else to go after that. No step up, nothing left to do. That would be the last step to make, and after that things would just go down. Great money, but I want to keep developing.”

SASHA BANKS RUMORS SWIRL

Dave Meltzer has reported that Sasha Banks is willing to sit out the rest of her WWE contract. Speaking on the Wrestling Observer Radio Dave said that the two sides were currently in a stalemate. Dave said that WWE wants Banks to return, but that Banks she wants changes to be made.

The feud started with Banks’ and Bayley’s tag title loss at WrestleMania 35. The pair were of the understanding that they were to be given a lengthy run with the championships, building them into prestige titles. Although Bayley has returned to work, now on SmackDown, Banks has been missing since WrestleMania.
