POWER RANGER TO MOVE TO PRO WRESTLING
Jason David Frank, who played Tommy Oliver (the Green Ranger) in the TV show Power Rangers, will be working with the Laredo Wrestling Alliance sometime in 2019. As you can see in the clip below, Jason gets into a confrontation with Brysin Scott at the promotions last event of the year, ‘Let’s Say Goodbye’. Frank went on to speak with the Laredo Morning Times after the show:
“I’ve always been interested in stepping into a wrestling ring, I don’t do this stuff. I do MMA. Just to learn this stuff is cool. I went to WWE, but just to see this passion in these fighters, everyone is hungry and everyone wants to be the best they can. I like that.”
Although the time and place haven’t been confirmed, it is known that Frank will be facing Brysin Scott.
SAMI ZAYN IN NO HURRY TO RETURN
Speaking on the Talk is Jericho podcast” recently, Sami Zayn spoke about his time off recovering from surgery on both shoulders. Surprising, Sami was very open about his time off and how he feels about returning:
“I know wrestling fans maybe don’t want to hear this, but I’ve been loving being off. I think maybe wrestling fans want to hear ‘I can’t wait to be back’, I miss everything’, I don’t miss anything.”
“Maybe I’m overstating my lack of desire to return, I do miss performing. I’ve been doing this a super long time, we’re on the road a lot, you know how it is. I know [that] when I’ll be back I’ll really enjoy it, I’m not sitting there itching and clawing [to get back], I don’t know if my employer will want to hear that, like ‘does this guy not care?’. But I’m not even close [to being cleared], I need a couple more months.”
CHRIS JERICHO STOKES THE AEW FIRE
Chris Jericho has no issue in trolling the internet. Posting on Instagram from the Minnesota Vikings touchline. In his post, he thanked Tony Khan for the tickets. Tony Khan has been linked with Jericho and the Young Bucks amongst others in the supposed AEW promotion. Only time will tell if this is legitimate, but with the new year imminent, we hopefully won’t have to wait too long.
JOHN CENA CLAIMS NOT TO BE TIED TO A BRAND
John Cena recently spoke live to his fan via his Facebook page. In the 15-minute question and answer session he was asked what it was like being back; Jon spoke at length about how busy he has been with the different movies he’s been shooting and how he managed to fit his latest appearances between two different projects. He spoke about not being tied to any particular brand, standing in front of a SmackDown live TV monitor he said:
“I have no brand allegiance, this will wipe away [motioning to the screen behind him] and will be RAW and the week after that I’m going to RAW and then, as soon as RAW is done I’ll head to Canada and start something else.”
He goes on to reaffirm that he’ll never leave, but the work he does outside of the industry bring more positive attention to wrestling.
BECKY WINS MORE THAN JUST AWARDS
You’ve finally seen the light, huh?
— The Man (@BeckyLynchWWE) December 30, 2018
Becky Lynch recently won more than just the Sports Illustrated Women’s Wrestler of 2018 award. Not content with just another trophy on her mantlepiece, the ‘Irish Lass Kicker’ couldn’t help responding when Issy, Bayley’s biggest fan posted a photo of herself dressed in a ‘The Man’ shirt.
MORE WWE INJURY WORRIES
According to PWInsider, Zelina Vega has been dealing with issues surrounding concussion since Evolution. The issues stem from a bad bump sustained during the Battle Royal and she hasn’t competed in the ring since.
Another superstar who is having to cope with injury at the moment is Jinder Mahal. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Mahal has been suffering from a shoulder injury for some time. Dave blames Jinder’s recent, less impressive matches on the injury.
