Alexa Bliss Not Cleared After All
Contrary to the recent claims of WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, fan favorite Alexa Bliss hasn’t been cleared for a full in-ring return. Posted on f4wonline, Dave Meltzer has claimed that Alexa has only been cleared to take light bumps at the WWE Performance Center, under supervision from WWE medical staff. This is obviously a world away from the 100% cleared Mark claimed. Speaking on an episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Brian Alvarez added that she isn’t expected to compete in a ring before Royal Rumble at the earliest. If Brian and Dave are correct, this should keep Alexa in her new authority figure role for the foreseeable future.
Low SmackDown Ratings
Following from RAW’s lowest ever viewing figures from Monday night, pulling a dire 2.3 million viewers, SmackDown passed an unwelcome milestone of their own. For the 4th of December show, the WWE only managed to attract 1.94 million views and it became the second least watched episode since the blue brand moved to Tuesday nights. To add to the woes of the WWE, 1.94 million only marginally managed to avoid becoming the lowest rated show (election night November 8th, 2016). It’s also notable that Tuesday nights show only managed to reach 14th in total views on cable and it’s extremely rare for the show to not break into the top 10.
Queen Of The Ring?
Following the success of WWE Evolution, the WWE is reportedly looking to put on a second all women’s pay per view in 2019. Dave Meltzer commented in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that considering how well Evolution was received, the WWE was looking for a second event and at the moment Queen of the Ring was being considered for the main roster women. Nothing has been set in stone as of yet, but the possibility of certain matchups have the WWE universe chomping at the bit already. With Evolution seen more like a one-off event, it may be the case that the WWE is looking to add an annual event to go alongside the Mae Young Classic.
