WWE HALL OF FAMER TO AEW?

Road Warrior Animal has revealed his interest in the newest wrestling promotion, AEW. Speaking on his ‘What A Rush’ podcast, the three-time WWE Tag Team Champion praised what he believes AEW are setting out to do, saying:

“It’s great to see a company opening that’s going back to basics and doing what’s right in pro wrestling. Giving the fans what they expect to see, not having to do a big ceremonial, ‘We’ll give you what you want to see!’ and then do what we want to do anyway. This is really about what the fans need to see.”

Later, Animal spoke about what he thought he would bring to the fledgling company, saying:

“They got a great product and I think I’d help them enhance their product with my wrestling knowledge in the tag team industry especially, and I think I could be a good addition other than anything else,”

SUPERSTAR PULLED FROM WORLDS COLLIDE

Recently announced network special ‘Worlds Collide’ has already lost one of its initial competitors. The special was first announced as including Humberto Carrillo as one of the 205 Live wrestlers (which is peculiar as he doesn’t compete for that brand), this was changed very quickly to just read “A Superstar to be named”. Many believe that this, combined with Drake Maverick’s promise that new faces were on their way, and Buddy Murphy’s open challenge, could point to Humberto appearing on 205 Live imminently.

WWE’S BID FOR AEW STARS

Commenting in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has spoken about the contracts WWE are supposed to have offered Omega, ‘Hangman’ Page and the Young Bucks. Triple H has been reported as having taken a lead in trying to recruit the four members of The Elite. The deals were worked out on an individual basis and were unique in several ways.

Page’s deal was based around him signing to the NXT brand but drawing main roster money. Page would also have been pushed as one of the top stars of the brand.

The Young Bucks were offered a three-year deal with the same money as is paid to AJ Styles. They were also offered a weekly network slot for them to air their ‘Being The Elite’ show.

Kenny Omega is under contract with NJPW until the end of January. It has been divulged that he has already declined to sign with WWE. The Elite reportedly spent over 12 hours discussing the contracts with Triple H, this of course ultimately came to nothing, although they apparently praised him and the way the entire process was conducted.

FRANK MIR TO MAKE PRO WRESTLING DEBUT

Former two-time UFC Heavyweight champion, Frank Mir will be making his pro-wrestling debut April 4th at White Eagle Hall. Frank will be working with GCW at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport event. Josh Barnett is also well known for his time in the UFC. After Josh left MMA he joined NJPW as first a wrestler and then as a color commentator. At this time it is unknown who Frank will be fighting.
