KOTA IBUSHI INJURED DURING WK13 MATCH

In the very first match of Wrestle Kingdom 13, Will Ospreay challenged Kota Ibushi for the Never Open-Weight Title. The match was as fast paced as it was brutal with each competitor on the end of very stiff looking shots. With Ospreay hitting the Storm Breaker to end the match, a bloodied Ibushi was stretchered from the ring. At the After the match, NJPW released a statement on their website that explaining that Kota had suffered a concussion, but that it “wasn’t serious”.

 

HULK HOGAN RETURNING TO RAW

WWE has announced that Hulk Hogan will be returning to RAW to honor Gene Okerlund. Gene and Hulk worked closely together through their shared time at both WWF and WCW. One of there more notable pairing was the tag team they formed to face  George ‘The Animal’ Steel and Mr. Fuji in 1984. The WWE posted the following to their website regarding the return of Hogan:

“Let me tell you something, ‘Mean’ Gene …”

So began many of Hulk Hogan’s most memorable proclamations, making interviewer and backstage personality “Mean” Gene Okerlund a cornerstone of Hulkamania in the 1980s. Now, in the wake of Okerlund’s recent passing, Hogan returns to WWE programming this Monday night on Raw to honor his longtime friend.”

The Hulkster is now the third name to be returning to the 7th of January episode. With John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman already booked to attend, Monday nights episode promises a packed 3 hours.

CHANGE ANNOUNCED FOR WRESTLE KINGDOM 14

During the Wrestle Kingdom 13 event, NJPW announced a change to the format for the 2020 event. Although historically the event has always taken place over a single day, Wrestle Kingdom 14 will take place over two. The event is scheduled for Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of January, 2020 and will be held at the Tokyo Dome once again.

 

IMPACT KNOCKOUT AT NXT TAPING

Former Impact Knockout, Rebel, Tweeted a photo of herself at the NXT tapings last night. Commenting, “About last night…….. When one door closes, another one opens.”. Rebel has worked for OVW and Stardom recently.

 

RAVEN RETURNS TO IMPACT

ECW favorite Raven returned to Impact this week, appearing alongside another ECW veteran in Tommy Dreamer. During the segment Dreamer and Raven team up to beat down Eli Drake. Raven first debuted with the series in 2003, winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 2005.

 

NXT UK TAPINGS ANNOUNCED

WWE has announced the next NXT UK taping dates. The UK arm of WWE Twitter stated that the Coventry SkyDome Arena will play host to the WWE on Feb the 22nd and 23rd.
