CHELSEA GREEN INJURED

Chelsea Green revealed that she recently broke her wrist and required surgery today. Posting to Instagram, Green said that last night she wrestled her first match at Full Sail University. Unfortunately, mid-match Green broke her wrist. Accompanying the post was an image of Chelsea in a hospital gown with a freshly bandaged wrist and arm. Green goes on to say that the injury will require surgery to repair and the surgery is scheduled for the following morning.

Today I had the opportunity to wrestle for the first time at Full Sail for @wwenxt after years of dreaming of it! Wow, it was everything I had imagined it would be!!!‬
Of course, with this job comes occupational hazards. ‬Unfortunately, I broke my wrist mid-match & will require surgery first thing tomorrow morning.
It sucks. I’m upset, I’m angry, I’m sore… but I’ll be back soon. This is just a tiny bump in the road to many goals I have set for 2019! 💙💙💙

WRESTLING OBSERVER NEWSLETTER AWARDS

Kenny Omega has topped the WON Awards, beating out Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada to take the top spot. The awards are based on votes collected from the WON readership. This marks the first time the Kenny has claimed the top spot with almost double the number of first placed picks as the runner up. Kenny had a bumper 2018, especially considering his eventual wind down as he prepared to leave for AEW. Omega’s year revolved around him capturing and defending the IWGP heavyweight title. Omega held the belt from June 9th through to January 4th, taking it from longtime rival Okada and losing it to Hiroshi Tanahashi.

The highest placed WWE star was Becky Lynch at number 5.

BIG MATCH MADE OFFICIAL FOR WRESTLEMANIA

WWE announced today that following Tuesday night’s confrontation and war of words between AJ Styles and Randy Orton, the two have been officially placed in a match at WrestleMania. On WWE.com, the company wrote about Tuesdays events:

Styles interrupted WWE’s Apex Predator and accused him of never accomplishing one thing in WWE that he could call his own since his father and grandfather opened the door for him and his association in several factions along the way protected him from failure.

Orton took great exception to that claim and promised Styles that this was his house, rent was due and that he should make the check out to the three most destructive letters in sports-entertainment: R-K-O. Styles didn’t blink, instead retorting by challenging his adversary to a showdown at WrestleMania.

Although Orton walked away on the night, the WrestleMania Twitter feed announced the match earlier today.
