RUMOURS SWIRL REGARDING SMACKDOWN’S MOVE TO FOX

Dave Meltzer has spoken about backstage plans ahead of SmackDown’s move to Fox in October. Apparently, the plan is to extend the show to three hours, but only broadcast the first two on Fox. The third hour would be shown on the sports-focused Fox affiliate, FS1. The issue seems to be around  205 Live not drawing enough fans. Even though it is filmed straight after SmackDown, and would be a logical choice considering the channel swap, Fox and WWE would rather extend SmackDown.

Dave states that the driving force behind the need for three hours of programming is the loss of an hour of UFC from Fox to ESPN.
