Wrestling News Update – May 20th, 2019

From a new title to potential injuries to Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio, Matt Booker runs through the days stories in the Wrestling News Update.

NEW TITLE TO DEBUT ON RAW

On last night’s Money in the Bank pay per view, it was announced that a new title would be debuted on RAW this evening. Mick Foley will be unveiling the new belt, but at this time that is all that is known.

Interestingly, the SmackDown house show that was scheduled to take place on Monday night has been cancelled.

TRIPLE H CONFIRMS NEW WAR GAMES

Taking to his Twitter account, Triple H confirmed the next instalment of NXT War Games. This will be the third time they’ve used this format for a pay per view and it seems to have found a home in mid-November. The event has been announced for the 23rd of November, which is the Saturday of Survivor Series weekend. As for location, the Allstate Arena in Chicago has been chosen. The venue claims to hold over 18,000 when hosting professional wrestling.

RAW STARS POSSIBLY INJURED

Last night’s Money in the Bank saw Rey Mysterio becoming United States Champion. The manner of his victory felt slightly off though, picking up the belt in a match that lasted just under two minutes.

Soon after the bout concluded it was reported that Samoa Joe had suffered a broken nose. Apparently, the match had been ended prematurely as there were concerns over the amount of blood Joe was losing and how this looked.

Subsequently, PWInsider has reported that Joe wasn’t the only star injured in the match. They have reported the Rey picked up a shoulder injury during the match or beat down that followed.
