WWE ADDRESSES RETURN OF LIVE PROGRAMMING

On Saturday, WWE released a statement to ESPN about their controversial return to live programming from this week.

In their statement, it said;

“We believe it is now more important than ever to provide people with a diversion from these hard times. We are producing content on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance following appropriate guidelines while taking additional precautions to ensure the health and wellness of our performers and staff. As a brand that has been woven into the fabric of society, WWE and its Superstars bring families together and deliver a sense of hope, determination and perseverance.”

According to reports, Vince McMahon scrapped plans to film the next SmackDown on Friday and decided to return to live broadcasts in spite of the fact the world is under quarantine due to COVID-19.

WWE ANNOUNCES GROUPS IN CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT

WWE has announced the participants in Group A and B of the interim NXT Cruiserweight Title tournament.

WWE revealed the four men in Group A, which are;

  • KUSHIDA
  • Tony Nese
  • Drake Maverick
  • Jake Atlas

Group B will contain;

  • Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
  • El Hijo del Fantasma
  • Akira Tozawa
  • Jack Gallagher

The reason for an interim NXT Cruiserweight Champion to be crowned is that Jordan Devlin is stuck in the UK due to flight restrictions.

WWE DELAY UK RELEASE OF NXT ON WWE NETWORK

WWE have now changed when NXT is released in the United Kingdom on the WWE Network. Instead of being released 24 hours later, it will now appear on the streaming platform a week later.

This is seemingly due to the new deal that WWE has with BT Sport, where NXT is now aired live on their network. However the reason why it took nearly four months to make the change is not known.

SHAWN SPEARS TO APPEAR ON AEW DYNAMITE

Fresh from his loss to Cody in the TNT Championship Tournament First Round, Shawn Spears is set to appear on this weeks episode of Dynamite.
