WWE Friday Night SmackDown Results – 7th February 2020

Paige Brearley runs down the results from tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

So…Who’s next?

Dirt Sheet Time! We open SmackDown with John Morrison and the Miz bringing back their old show. They show us their new film, “Once Upon a Time on the Dirt Sheet.” Mr. Miz even makes an appearance in the film! At the end, as credits, it shows ‘At Super Showdown New Smackdown Tag Champs.’

The New Day interrupt shortly after the film. Kofi speaks highly of Mr. Miz, which why wouldn’t he? Kofi is Mr Miz’s favorite superstar. Big E is being his lovely and comedic self as they continue making their way down to the ring.

The New Day find it hilarious that Miz and Morrison think they will beat them. Miz and Morrison remind them that they beat every tag team Smackdown has to offer.

The Usos have something to say though. Jimmy and Jey remind Miz and Morrison that they haven’t beaten them. Before the Usos can welcome them to the Usos Penitentiary, Dolph Ziggler’s music hits.

While the Usos wait for Ziggler and Robert Roode, Miz and Morrison take their opportunity to attack New Day. Jimmy and Jey eventually make the save for Kofi and E, in a moment just screaming Teddy Long.

The Usos defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode via Pinfall (Uso Splash)

According to Michael Cole, these two teams have a lot of history and it seemed to show. Ziggler and Roode attempted, and for the most part executed, a lot of double team, but the Usos were ready. A good opening match.

Backstage we see Alexa Bliss getting prepared for her upcoming match. Her tag team partner, Nikki Cross, comes into the room to check on her. Bliss says that she has beaten Bayley for the title before and in San Jose; Bliss has no doubt that she can do it again.

Cross reminds her that she has to go through three other women to get that opportunity. Bliss laughs and says she didn’t become the first woman to hold the RAW and Smackdown titles for nothing, she has something up her sleeve.

A recap of last week’s main event is shown. King Corbin is not happy about it and heads to the production truck. He yells at the crew and finds the one who pressed play. Corbin then throws this employee out of the truck!

Plenty of WWE staff arrive to wave Corbin off. Corbin walks off with a huge, rather sadistic, smile on his face.

Elias is in the ring getting ready to play a song for the WWE Universe. Of course though, as usual, he is interrupted. He just began to sing as Sami Zayn and Cesaro made their way out.

Sami asks Elias how he feels about being interrupted, which Elias reminds him happens all the time. Sami continues to go off on Elias for a bit before saying that he will pay for interrupting his interview last week.

Elias defeated Cesaro via Pinfall (Elbow Drop)

Well Sami’s plan definitely didn’t go well. Cesaro did have the upper hand for quite awhile, but Elias found the strength to overcome and get the victory. As you can imagine, Sami definitely wasn’t happy.

After a commercial, King Corbin makes his way to ringside. He goes on and on about how he does what he wants. Corbin expects the crowd to bow down to him and listen to his every word.

He complains about last week and states it should have been Roman who lost. Apparently Roman can’t do anything without his lapdogs, the Usos. Corbin is adamant that if the match at Royal Rumble was truly one on one, he would have won. Corbin demands yet another match with Roman.

After threatening to hold the show up, Corbin gets in an argument with a fan. This argument ends with Corbin throwing water on the fan and Roman’s music finally hitting.

Roman beats Corbin up and sends him running away. After getting a mic, Roman says that they can have one more match and it will be in a STEEL CAGE.

Finally we find out what’s next for Goldberg. He joins the show via satellite and gets straight to the point. Goldberg says he never got a rematch for the Universal Championship and after watching the Royal Rumble, he knows what he wants his next challenge to be…. THE FIEND.

Goldberg is interrupted by a Firefly Fun House news update. Bray Wyatt says its bad news for Goldberg because the Fiend accepts his challenge. When Wyatt finally sends it back to Goldberg, Goldberg says he won’t be intimidated. The interview ends with Goldberg telling Wyatt that the Fiend is next.

We go from the interview to the locker room, where Daniel Bryan had been watching what just went down. Heath Slater enters and wants to chat with Daniel to make sure he is doing okay. Slater is worried about Daniel after everything that happened with the Fiend.

Unfortunately Slater runs his mouth a bit too much and Daniel challenges him to a match.

Daniel Bryan defeated Heath Slater via Submission (Rebel Lock)

Attempting to be a good friend didn’t go so well for Slater. Daniel was on a different level tonight and made quick work of this match. Maybe, just maybe, The Fiend has changed Daniel more than we thought.

We see a recap of Braun Strowman winning his first single’s title in WWE.

Renee Young then interviews Strowman in the ring about last week’s victory. He said that last week was special and he has been waiting a bit for that moment. Strowman list some of his accomplishments, including winning the tag titles at Mania, but he had been waiting to win singles gold.

Before Strowman can continue, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura come out. Sami says that Strowman’s victory was tainted and a fraud, so they are out to demand a rematch. Strowman is open to it and says anytime, anywhere, even in San Jose.

Of course when given the opportunity to challenge for the title tonight, Sami declines. He says it will happen, but not tonight. All of a sudden the Revival attack Strowman from behind.

Strowman attempts to make a comeback, but with the Revival, Nakamura, and Sami attacking it becomes too much. Nakamura gives Strowman the Kinshasa and that’s it.

We then get a look at how Otis is preparing for his date with Mandy Rose. It is definitely interesting to watch. We see Otis working out and practicing his etiquette at a restaurant. He tries to eat a steak with his hands and ends up tipping the table over. Next week should be interesting.

Sheamus defeated Apollo Crews via Pinfall (Brogue Kick)

Well, Crews tried and he put up some nice offense at first, but Sheamus is just powerful.

After the match Sheamus went for another Brogue Kick, but got stopped by Shorty G. They fight for a few, until Sheamus hits him with a Brogue Kick.

Carmella defeated Naomi, Alexa Bliss, and Dana Brooke to become the Number One Contender to the Smackdown Women’s Championship

Unexpected hey? This was a fun match, a bit chaotic, but fun. Carmella definitely got the surprise victory here, so it should get interesting.

After the match, Bayley attacks Carmella. We leave Smackdown with Bayley heading back up the ramp having a stare down with Carmella.
