WWE Hall Of Famer Nikolai Volkoff Passes Away Aged 70

Former WWF Tag Team Champion and Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff has died at the age of 70.

Former WWF Tag Team Champion and Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff has died at the age of 70.

Volkoff had been in the hospital and released days prior in Maryland for treatment of dehydration and other issues.

Volkoff, real name Josip Nikolai Peruzović, was born in Yugoslavia in 1947, and moved to Canada in 1967 to begin his wrestling career in Stampede Wrestling. He worked in the AWA and the World Wide Wrestling Federation, where he became his now infamous Russian character, Nikolai Volkoff.

He teamed with The Iron Sheik and win the Tag Team Championship in 1985. He would remain in the WWF on and off until 1995 when he semi-retired, but would appear in various independent promotions until 2016 and even was a part of the Gimmick Battle Royal at Wrestlemania X-Seven.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.
