Tonight, Karrion Kross and Scarlett open the show. Also, what is next for Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae?
We open the show with the entrance of Scarlett and Karrion Kross. Fall and Pray.
Karrion Kross defeated Liam Grey via Submission (Kross Jacket)
Kross showed off his brutality and power in this one. The match was not long and Kross dominated the whole time.
At the end of the match Tommaso Ciampa made his way to ringside. Ciampa officially introduces himself to Kross and Scarlett. After putting over Kross and his entrance, the KILLER entrance, Ciampa heads into the ring. Scarlett held the ropes for him.
Ciampa said Kross isn’t the only special one because he is too. On June 7th, NXT TakeOver: In Your House it will be Ciampa vs Kross.
We get a bit of a recap of the Cruiserweight Tournament before going to commercial.
Fantasma defeated Akira Tozawa via Pinfall (Phantom Driver)
Fantasma improved to 2-1, which ties Tozawa technically. According to commentary though, he now leads the group. The match was hard fought and fun to watch.
We get a replay of what led to Imperium becoming the NXT Tag Team Champions. Then we heard from Timothy Thatcher. Then we heard from Thatcher. He said he enjoyed last week, but wants one more match. This time? No rules, no fluke pins. Win by knock out or tap out. Thatcher is even letting Matt Riddle pick the place.
Before commercial, Beth Phoenix hypes up Mia Yim versus Santana Garrett.
Back from a commercial, we get a video promo from Shotzi Blackheart. We get a bit more insight as to who Blackheart truly is. She rides a tank through most of her promo. Blackheart also addresses Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez, even Chelsea Green.
Blackheart said they are not ready for her. She even “squished” the pixie from Candice LeRae. Blackheart put the women’s division on notice.
Mia Yim defeated Santana Garrett via Pinfall (Protect Ya Neck)
Garrett was a worthy opponent for Yim, who was out to prove how good she is after being defeated by Charlotte Flair.
After the match, Johnny Gargano came out singing Mia Yim’s song. Of course, Candice LeRae was also with him and gave Yim props for winning her match. LeRae though mentioned Yim dropping the ball in her match with Charlotte Flair because she too busy pandering to the fans.
Candice and Johnny made very clear how much she would have loved and thrived in a match with Charlotte Flair. Gargano said that if Candice had been given the opportunity to face Flair, she wouldn’t have blown it like Yim. Then Gargano said they wanted to show Yim what happens to people who get opportunities they don’t deserve.
Gargano tried to enter the ring, but Yim took care of him. LeRae went on the attack though. Johnny pulled down the rope at one point, so that LeRae could dispose of Yim. Upon doing that, Keith Lee made his way ringside to help out Mia Yim.
Lee and Yim stormed the ring, but Gargano and LeRae rushed out. The Garganos don’t seem so tough and powerful now.
Commentary then went in to discussing Finn Balor and his attacker being Damian Priest.
Then we got a promo from Cameron Grimes. He talked about defeating Balor last week. Grimes does not care what you think about last week, it is Grimes Time.
When we got back from a commercial, we are treated to an interview with Drake Maverick.. Maverick throws around all sorts of cliches and quotes about his match tonight. Maverick called Kushida the best wrestler in the world. While he has two options to beat Kushida, Maverick is tired. He has one thing to do tonight..win.
Back at ringside, we were treated to the entrance of the Undisputed Era. While Adam Cole and Bobby Fish accompanied Roderick Strong to the ring, they did not stick around.
Roderick Strong defeated Dexter Lumis via Pinfall (Rollup)
Lumis is a very interesting man. He is spooky, there isn’t another way to put it. This was definitely a different opponent for Roddy, but eventually he found a way to get the victory.
After the match, Lumis grabbed hold of Roddy. It took a lot of work from Bobby Fish and Adam Cole, who came back to ringside, to try and get the hold broken. Velveteen Dream came and helped Lumis. After getting rid of Fish, Dream wiped out Adam Cole with a Purple Rainmaker to the floor. What an odd couple Dream and Lumis seem to be.
Before commercial we see Rhea Ripley preparing for her match with Io Shirai.
When we returned from commercial, we saw that Akira Tozawa almost got kidnapped by the masked men. Thankfully Fantasma stopped that.
Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan defeated Ever Rise via Submission (Single Leg Crab)
The team of Burch and Lorcan certainly are showing why they are ready for a NXT Tag Team Championship opportunity. They’re teamwork is impeccable.
After their win, Burch and Lorcan posed just like Imperium. It seemed they were sending a message.
We get a replay of what occurred between Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, and Johnny Gargano. There were NXT superstars that responded on Twitter, but more importantly….Keith Lee had things to say.
McKenzie Mitchell interviewed Keith Lee. Lee said he requested the interview and couldn’t wrap his head around the Garganos filming themselves having dinner. Lee had a problem with the new Gargano Way. He thinks that problem reaches a head at NXT TakeOver.
Back from commercial, Matt Riddle responded to Thatcher’s earlier proposition. Riddle said Thatcher is a putz, not a stallion. He then suggested the match take place in a cage, where they are both comfortable.
Drake Maverick defeated Kushida via Pinfall
Maverick still has hope. While he may have had to have faced the favorite in the tournament, Maverick beat the odds. What may come as a surprise to some, Maverick has life in this tournament.
After the match, Byron Saxton announces there will be no tie breaker. Upon the decision of William Regal, next week there will be a triple threat to determine Fantasma’s opponent.
We hear from Rhea Ripley. She said she hasn’t had much rest since Mania. While Io Shirai put up a good fight, no one is bringing the title back to NXT besides Ripley.
Back from commercial we finally get to hear from Damian Priest. He said he clearly has the desire to be a champion. The chance to take out Balor is a huge opportunity. He wants to do this match at TakeOver. Finn Balor will turn to ash, while Damian Priest….lives forever.
Io Shirai defeated Rhea Ripley via DQ
While the match had started off well and good, there was no way Charlotte Flair wasn’t going to get a front row seat. Unfortunately her presence, caused issues. Ripley ran into her, which caused retaliation from Flair.
At the end of the night, the Queen stood tall over both her adversaries.
