All Elite Wrestling made huge waves this past week with the announcement of a weekly show airing on TNT. But that’s not the only deal that AEW have announced.
One of the worst kept secrets in wrestling is all but out as Cody announced during Thursday’s “An Evening With Cody & The Young Bucks” stage show at Starrcast II that All Elite Wrestling will air on ITV in the UK beginning in the autumn. He also fired some shots at WWE, stating that their new deal with BT Sport “sucks compared to ours”.
This confirms what Tony Khan said in his interview with Jack Whitehall on the AEW YouTube channel, where he discussed the deals they had with TNT and ITV.
“What we’ve got right now in the US and the UK is phenomenal, because it’s been so long since anybody’s had the distribution…nobody’s had the distribution we have. To have partners like TNT and ITV, at the same time, it’s the best distribution any wrestling company, bar none has ever had. That’s what we have on our side right now.”
Chris Jericho had also made mention of a deal with ITV on the latest ‘Talk Is Jericho’ podcast.
Reportedly, the only reason that ITV have not made a formal announcement is that they are waiting on TNT to decide which day AEW’s weekly television show will air.
ITV 4 is available in nearly 27 million homes while BT Sport, which will be the new home of WWE in the UK, is in 2.19 million homes.
