After Jon Moxley turned down his offer, how will Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle respond?
Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega defeated Best Friends, The Young Bucks and Proud n Powerful via Pinfall (Buck Shot/ V-Trigger combo)
This match was chaos, it was beautiful though. At one point, Hangman did a moonsault to the outside, Ortiz stopped Omega, then everyone else did dives and flips to the outside. Of course Orange Cassidy got his moment, which is always great to see. In the end, the team of Hangman and Omega pinned Chuck Tyler to become the number one contenders to SCU’s tag team titles.
After the end of the match, the Young Bucks were upset with Hangman. Hangman had tagged himself into the match, by tagging Matt Jackson. Although the two tag teams raised each other’s hands, there was a lot of tension.
After a commercial break, Cody comes out to talk about the situation with MJF. Cody thinks its a mistake that one of MJF’s stipulations is a steel cage match with Wardlow. Says that this could show that Wardlow shouldn’t be carrying MJF’s bags, but it should be the other way around.
Cody accepts all of MJF’s stipulations. While he may have failed at being a mentor, Cody says MJF is just a chapter in his story.
Joey Janela addresses what happened last week with Penelope Ford and Kip Sabin. Janela said he told Penelope multiple times he wanted nothing to do with her, but he knows that she can’t do anything without his name. He then tells Kip Sabin if he wants to play, to cross the line.
Janela has a match with Rey Fenix next week, a match in which Janela says he has something to prove. Next week he is going to show why he is a bad, bad boy.
Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander defeated Nightmare Collective via Pinfall (Big Bang Theory)
The Nightmare Collective used double team tactics, it wasn’t enough to outsmart Shida and Statlander.
A Dark Order Promo is shown. Apparently the new recruits they are after include Michael Nakazowa, Brandon Cutler, and Hangman Page. The Dark Order seem to be focusing on those close to the Elite to show that they are the true powerhouse in AEW.
Jon Moxley defeated Sammy Guevara via Submission (Sleeper Hold)
Well, well, well Mox trying to send a message to Minoru Suzuki maybe? I see ya Mox. All in all, this was a really solid match to determine who will go on to a match next week, to determine the number one contender to Jericho’s title.
After the match, Jericho’s music hit and the lights went out. When the lights came back on, Moxley was surrounded by the Inner Circle. Mox tried to fight them off, but the numbers game took over. Jericho whipped him with the AEW title and then everyone else got in their shots.
Unfortunately for Mox, the Inner Circle didn’t stop there. Jericho took a spike off of his jacket and poked Mox in the eye with it. Of course after this refs from the back arrived to get rid of the Inner Circle. Throughout the commercial break Moxley received medical attention.
Backstage an interviewer catches up with Jericho. Jericho blames Moxley for everything that happened tonight. He says it was reckless abandonment that got Moxley where he is. “An eye for an eye.”
MJF, The Butcher, and The Blade defeated QT Marshall, Dustin Rhodes, and DDP via Pinfall (Rollup)
As expected, MJF used underhanded tactics to give his team the advantage. Unfortunately what DDP’s “One More Match” ended in defeat.
SCU tried to give an interview with their reactions to Kenny Omega and Hangman becoming the number one contenders. Unfortunately, a drunken Hangman interrupted. Thankfully Omega shows up to save his partner and wish SCU the best of luck in their match next week.
PAC defeated Darby Allin via Pinfall (Black Arrow)
These two are both pretty quick and put it all on the line to get to next week’s number one contender match. Allin was rather resilient in this one, but unfortunately for him, his body couldn’t take anymore pain.
Tony Schiavone comes to the ring to interview PAC. Tony begins by saying that next week he’ll face Jon Moxley, but PAC interrupts him. PAC says to congratulate him on being the number one contender. Tony says as far as he knows the match is still happening. PAC points out that after what happened tonight he doesn’t see Mox showing up next week, so that would be a forfeit. PAC then calls out Jericho.
Before PAC can continue, we go backstage to see Moxley in an ambulance, but of course he doesn’t stay in the ambulance. A bloody, bandaged up Mox heads down to the ring. He tells PAC, he doesn’t care if he has one eye or no eyes or is half dead, he will be there next week and he will become number one contender.
