AEW Dynamite Results – March 18, 2020

Paige Brearley runs down the results from tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

This week AEW comes to us from an empty arena for the first time, what will they bring tonight?

The show opened with Cody Rhodes giving a promo about the events leading up to the empty arena. He said he refuses to live in fear and then speaks about Blood and Guts. Cody basically calls out all the members of the Elite and tells them they have to stand together in order to win.

Kenny Omega and Matt Jackson then make their way to the ring. Omega says they don’t even know if they’ll have a Dynamite next week, but he wants to go out as they started; as the Elite. Jackson questions where Adam Page is.

When Hangman finally appears, Jackson asks him if he will stand with them. Hangman simply raises his glass in solidarity. After the pleasantries, Omega says they are going to give the best show possible and asks for the pyro to hit.

Tony Schiavone is ringside and interviewed MJF. MJF said he isn’t wrestling and is just at ringside to let the undercard talent get their tv time. He looked at Shawn Spears and gestured about making money on the matches tonight. Schiavone then turned it over to Brandi Rhodes who is the ring announcer for the night.

Lucha Brothers defeated Best Friends via Pinfall (Package Pile Driver Combination)

As Taz said on commentary it was a hell of a match. Although, losing to an unranked team does hurt Best Friends in the rankings. Besides that Orange Cassidy looked pretty disappointed.

After the match, Best Friends were interviewed by Schiavone. They challenged Death Triangle to a parking lot match on the next Dynamite.

Hikaru Shida defeated Penelope Ford, Kris Statlander, and Riho via Pinfall

The women had a decent match, Shida won with a knee strike to Penelope Ford. This victory should give Shida momentum and maybe a title shot in the future.

At the conclusion of the match, Colt Cabana was interviewed. Cabana said he was “scouting” and gave a lot of credit to the women’s division, really hyped them up. He mentioned that Penelope Ford is great, but would be much better if she wasn’t scheming with her boyfriend.

Kip Sabian, who accompanied Ford to ringside, heard what Cabana was saying and took offense to it. Cabana gave him a slap, which caused a retreat for Sabian and Ford.

We discover that Jon Moxley was not medically cleared to enter the arena because of injuries. Moxley said there is enough problems going on, but gives a warning to the Inner Circle. Moxley says he will always be in their blind spot and when Blood and Guts happens, he won’t miss it for the world.

Jurassic Express defeated Butcher and Blade via Pinfall

Having the locker room as the audience sure makes things interesting. Butcher and Blade really had control for most of this match, until MJF started yelling instructions at them.

It had been said that we would finally discover who the Exalted One is this week. Evil Uno definitely didn’t disappoint. Evil Uno kept saying that the. Exalted One is near, but was then interrupted by Christopher Daniels.

Daniels asked him to stop running his mouth. He said he has been sick of listening to the lie for the past three months. He’s sick of having his time wasted. Daniels says there is no Exalted One, well that is until a video begins to play.

In the video the Exalted One says they do what they want, when they want. The Exalted One is revealed to be Brodie Lee and he began to speak directly to Christopher Daniels. After the video, the lights come back up in the arena, revealing Lee in the ring with the Dark Order. They take out Christopher Daniels and Kazarian.

After a commercial, Tony Schiavone interviewed Jake Roberts and Lance Archer. Schiavone tried to discover Archer’s purpose, but Roberts interrupts. He said that they gave Cody Rhodes respect, but got absolutely nothing in return. Roberts and Archer don’t play games and have stated exactly what they want. Roberts said they will not be ignored and they will get Cody’s attention.

After the interview a video of Archer is shown. It’s a backyard wresting where different men take their turn trying to step up to Archer. Archer runs through them all as Jake Roberts sits watching nearby.

Some matches for next week were announced including: Luchasaurus vs Wardlow in a lumberjack match and a Parking Lot Fight between Luch Bros and Best Friends.

When Chris Jericho makes his entrance, Sammy Guevara treats us all to a karaoke rendition of Judas. MJF winds up giving him tips.

The Inner Circle defeated the Elite via Rollup to gain an advantage at Blood and Guts

This one was pretty decent, Adam Page did work together with Cody and Matt Jackson, but it still wasn’t enough. Inner Circle is a well oiled machine and proved there are no cracks in their armor.

After the match, Jericho said they have all the advantages and then banned fans from future AEW events. The Inner Circle says they don’t need fans around rooting for anyone in the Elite. Jericho then boasted about how there are five of the Inner Circle compared to four of the Elite (Nick Jackson is not cleared to compete).

As Jericho listed off the Inner Circle’s accomplishments, a drone. flew in. Matt Jackson revealed he made a few calls to someone who owed him a favor. In the rafters of the arena as piano music played, Matt Hardy appeared! The Elite is no longer outnumbered.
