Tonight we will see Matt Hardy once again team up with Kenny Omega. We will also find out Nyla Rose’s next challenger.
The show opens with Lance Archer beating up a crew member on his way to the ring. Jake Roberts is not far behind.
Jake gets the mic and said Brandi Rhodes won’t get an apology from him…..well that is unless she kisses his ass. He begins to say what a woman is good for, apparently just cooking, cleaning, taking care of babies.
Jake then moves on to discussing Cody. He said there is no more excuses, it is time to pay the piper. He tried to continue talking but was interrupted by what sounded like a motorcycle. It turned out to be Cody’s F150. Cody used his truck to ram down a barricade.
After Cody got out of his truck, Lance Archer and him immediately started brawling. They take the fight back to the ring where chairs and tables are used. Archer at one point thinks better of continuing the brawl and escapes back to the ramp along with Jake Roberts.
Commentary then gives us a run down of what’s to come tonight. We then get a video about the tag team division.
Best Friends defeated Jurassic Express via Pinfall (Awful Waffle)
Chuck Taylor and Jungle Boy started off the match, at one point they traded off arm drags to the point they shook hands and tagged in their respective partners. We had two interferences during the match, an attack on Orange Cassidy by Rey Fenix and MJF attacking Jungle Boy. The attack on Jungle Boy lead to Best Friends getting the victory.
After the match, Wardlow took out Marko Stunt. Wardlow threw Stunt real hard into the barricade. Lots of cheap shots took place in this tag match.
Commentary then talked about Jon Moxley not currently having possession of the AEW World title. They got word that Moxley had arrived to the building. Unfortunately for the backstage interviewer Mox wasn’t in the mood for talking. Mox just shoved the camera out of his way, he was ready to take care of business.
Hikaru Shida defeated Penelope Ford, Britt Baker, and Kris Statlander
While the match began with Baker going after Shida because of the broken nose she suffered awhile back. It ended with Baker putting Statlander in the Lockjaw on the outside, while Shida kept her number one ranking.
Then we heard from Suge D about his match with Chris Jericho coming up later in the night. He said he doesn’t need a circle, he just throws hands. Tonight ends the insults.
Back from commercial we find out Nyla Rose will defend the Women’s Championship at Double or Nothing against Shida.
Before the tag team match featuring Santana and Ortiz versus Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega begun, Santana and Ortiz attacked Omega. The match is not a no DQ match.
Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega defeated Santana and Ortiz via Pinfall (Top Rope Crusher)
Hardy had blood in his mouth for most of the match (he bit Santana once he came out to save Omega). It did look like Santana and Ortiz would get the victory on behalf of the inner circle, but Hardy and Omega just work well together. And yes at one point Sammy Guevara came out with a chair and a neck brace on…it didn’t end well for him.
Back from break, Taz is backstage with Darby Allin. Taz started by offering Allin an apology. Although it wasn’t really an apology, as Taz tried to tell Allin all he had done wrong in his match against Cody. Allin, who was an amateur wrestler isn’t having it with Taz’s “advice”.
After, Hikaru Shida is interviewed about her match at Double or Nothing. She said the best thing that could happen to her is beating Rose and becoming champion. Nyla Rose then enters the interview.
Rose said she found something that belonged to Shida. She hit Shida with a kendo stick. After that we head to ringside.
MJF defeated Lee Johnson via Submission
It didn’t take MJF long to win this one, he really just toyed with Lee Johnson.
After the match, MJF took to the mic. Of course no one in attendance, the other wrestlers, wanted to hear from him. While he is looking forward to facing Jungle Boy at Double or Nothing, MJF is feeling a tad rusty.
When he got to the arena earlier that day, he saw Marko Stunt had an open contract for a match. So, MJF signed it. He warned Stunt that they were gonna have a lot of fun, dropped is ‘I’m Better Than You’ catchphrase. And well, another commercial it was.
Chris Jericho defeated Suge D via Pinfall (Judas Effect)
Suge honestly started off the match so great, er Pineapple Pete. He came out of the gate strong, but when he tried to charge at Jericho in the corner, Jericho was ready. Jericho almost made it look too easy.
After the match Jericho wanted to move on to bigger matters…The Elite. He said it is time for the Elite vs the Inner Circle, if the Elite is still a thing.
Jericho said the Inner Circle will give the Elite time to get their shit together. Apparently the Inner Circle has created a match called the Stadium Stampede Match. Uh, the what? Apparently it will be more wild then last week’s street fight because who knows what can happen in an empty 80,000 seat stadium.
As the Inner Circle waits for an answer from the Elite, out flies Vanguard 1. Vanguard brought Jericho back his Inner Circle shirt and delivered the Elite’s answer, they accepted. While Vanguard was still flying around, Jericho took his bat, named Floyd, and destroyed Vanguard.
By the time Matt Hardy made his way to the ring, it was too late. Rest In Peace Vanguard 1.
We get told that Nyla Rose will now defend her women’s championship against Hikaru Shida in a No Disqualification match.
We also get a recap of what went down between Brodie Lee and Jon Moxley last week before we get to the main event.
Brodie Lee defeated Christopher Daniels via Pinfall (Discus Lariat)
Lee came out wearing the AEW Championship and even wanting to be announced as the AEW Champion! We’re in some wild times folks. Being the self proclaimed champion did not deter Christopher Daniels, he brought the fight to Lee the best he could. Unfortunately Daniels couldn’t find a way to get the victory, even with his SCU partners an Colt Cabana taking care of the Dark Order goons.
After his victory, Lee was presented the AEW World Championship by his followers. As that was happening, Jon Moxley made his way to the ring. Moxley took out every follower on his way to the ring as Brodie Lee and 10 made their escape.
Once Moxley was finished destroying one of the followers he got on the mic. He said he doesn’t suffer disrespect and told Lee he had made a foolish decision. That decision? Well Mox is going to make him suffer with interest.
Moxley said there will be a hailstorm of violence on May 23 and when the dusts settles, Lee may find that his AEW career is over before it began.
