Following Fyter Fest Night One’s fantastic show, will we see new AEW Tag Team Champions at night two as Kenny Omega and Hangman face off against Private Party?
Will Joey Janela cause an upset against, an especially angry, Lance Archer? Will FTR claim a victory on their PPV debut? There are many questions, that here in this predictions piece I am going to cover. With that being said these are my Fyter Fest Night Two predictions.
Joey Janela vs Lance Archer (with Jake Roberts)
Prediction = Lance Archer
Lance Archer has been on a menacing streak, clocking in three victories on AEW Dark, in less than 15 minutes of wrestling, since his loss to Cody in May at Double or Nothing for the TNT Championship. He was already a noticeably aggressive wrestler before his loss, but now, he has stepped it up a notch or two.
Joey Janela has just started a tag team partnership with Sonny Kiss. Even though it’s early days, it does seem very promising.
However, I am certain Janela is in for a rough night and am confident he will fall to Archer’s devastating Blackout.
SCU vs Colt Cabana and The Dark Order (Brodie Lee and Stu Grayson)
Prediction = Colt Cabana and The Dark Order
This will be the first of three tag team matches on the card, which does lead me to suspect Teddy Long is now working at AEW. Regardless, the Dark Order and Colt Cabana storyline has been very interesting over the past weeks.
Brodie Lee teasing and tempting Colt into joining the stable was furthered after the pair picked up a victory on Dynamite recently. It will be interesting to see Colt’s interactions with SCU. It will also be interesting to see if also Colt introduces heelish tendencies into his character, or if he will remain his seemingly positive self.
Having Colt Cabana and Dark Order win here would cement the fact that Cabana has indeed joined the stable, and gaining the victory over Colt Cabana’s good friends SCU would show the intent and seriousness in Cabana’s intentions going forward alongside the Dark Order.
FTR & The Young Bucks vs The Butcher and The Blade & Lucha Brothers
Prediction = FTR & The Young Bucks
Now, this is an interesting matchup.
It pits FTR, who are making their PPV debut, and their assumed rivals but surprising counterparts, The Young Bucks against The Butcher & The Blade and the newly returning Lucha Brothers. I am a big fan of the booking around FTR’s debut, as it seemed inevitable that FTR would hold some sort of grudge against The Young Bucks. However, we have seen an alliance formed, which creates a very interesting dynamic in their relationship and possible/inevitable future feud.
The two teams will create magic in the ring as they are all proven outstanding tag team wrestlers.
I am excited to see if there is any feud teasing between FTR and The Young Bucks, or will it just be plain sailing for them. This has an FTR and Young Bucks victory written all over it. Firstly, because you can’t have FTR losing their PPV debut match and secondly, there is much more in store from the alliance between FTR and The Young Bucks.
Nyla Rose vs TBC
Prediction = Nyla Rose
I am not quite certain on who she might be facing, but I would like to see it possibly be Anna Jay and a continuation of her Dark Order storyline. But whomever it may be is most definitely going to be on the wrong end of a beating. Nyla Rose for the win.
Orange Cassidy vs Chris Jericho
Prediction = Chris Jericho
After ending his awkward feud with Mike Tyson, Le Champion Chris Jericho is now facing off against the second toughest man in the world, Orange Cassidy.
A matchup I never thought I would ever be witnessing has me on the edge of my seat to see what happens. The nonchalant tones of Orange Cassidy pair perfectly with the overtly angry yet hilarious Chris Jericho. Not only did I not think I would ever see this match, but I also did not expect this to have such an intense build behind it. Despite them being two fantastic caricatures, I am seriously invested in this and I love that about this feud.
Orange Cassidy, despite limited wrestling time, is already a fan favourite and I think putting him against one of the greatest wrestlers of all time parachutes his character even more. His stock will rise massively from this matchup and will help him be seen as a serious contender within future feuds and matchups. Despite this, I do think it will be Chris Jericho who will Judas Effect the pulp right out of Orange Cassidy and get back to winning ways after his loss at Double or Nothing and his loss on Dynamite for the #1 Contendership of the Tag Team Titles.
Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page vs Private Party – AEW World Tag Team Titles
Prediction = Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page
This match just happens to be the only title match on night two of Fyter Fest, and has come as a replacement for the AEW World Championship match between Moxley and Cage, which has been pushed back a week to Fight for the Fallen.
This match sees the two teams being the only wrestlers to appear in-ring on both nights of Fyter Fest. Private Party earned this opportunity having beaten Santana and Ortiz at Night One of Fyter Fest in a solid encounter. Furthermore, Kenny Omega and Adam Page bested Best Friends last week to retain their AEW World Tag Team Titles.
These two teams have also paired off against each other before, with Kenny Omega and Adam Page beating Private Party during AEW Dynamite’s New Year show.
Kenny Omega and Adam Page will retain as their storyline still has far to go and is getting back underway following last week’s win.
However, much like Best Friends last week, having Private Party face off with two of AEW’s best wrestlers in a title match will elevate them enough that a loss would not hinder the pair whatsoever. I am also hoping to see a little bit more involvement from Matt Hardy, as I felt it did lack last week.
