AEW brings us a special night of wrestling after the NBA playoffs!
The show opened with the entrance of Chris Jericho, who was joining commentary for the night.
Then commentary gave us a rundown of matches we would get tonight.
Scorpio Sky defeated Ben Carter via Pinfall (TKO)
This was a match and one could say a star making performance for Ben Carter. Carter brought the fight to Sky in high flying quick fashion. He did almost have the victory over Sky a few times, but Sky persevered. Sky brought the fight right back to Carter, even while fighting through a cut he got above his eye.
After the match Sky helped Carter up to his feet in a show of respect.
We then were shown a video hyping up the feud between Jon Moxley and Lance Archer. The video showed us the set up to the six man tag team match we will see on Dynamite: Moxley, Will Hobbs, and Darby Allin vs Archer, Brian Cage, and Ricky Starks.
Before a commercial break, Anna Jay made her entrance to the ring accompanied by The Dark Order.
Anna Jay defeated Brandi Rhodes via Referee Stoppage (Sleeper Hold)
While Rhodes began this match with a spear right off the bat, she could not keep momentum on her side. Rhodes had come out to the ring with a very serious look on her face and no sign of the Nightmare family with her. Without the Nightmare Family there for backup, Rhodes unfortunately fell victim to The Dark Order making their appearance felt. Rhodes then fell victim to the sleeper hold by the Queen Slayer yet again.
When we returned from a commercial break, we went backstage where Scorpio Sky had a few words to say. Sky gave Ben Carter his props, but with his victory Sky reminded everyone that he is going for the TNT Championship. He said he hasn’t forgotten that he is in the top five. Then Matt Sydal interrupted.
Sydal gave Sky props for his victory. Then Sky brought up Sydal eliminating Shawn Spears, who Sydal will face in his Dynamite debut. Sky told him to go out there and do what he does best because it is his night. Sydal said AEW will see what Sky is saying.
Then we got a video hyping up the TNT Championship match we will see on Dynamite: Brodie Lee defending against Orange Cassidy. The video featured comments from Tony Schiavone, JR, and Taz. Then we went to another commercial break.
Shawn Spears defeated Matt Sydal via Pinfall (C4)
Unfortunately for Matt Sydal his singles debut in AEW did not go according to plan. Although Sydal began the match with quick holds and more mat based wrestling, Spears was able to get some sort of control. The match was quick paced and hard hitting. Eventually Spears’ left glove was loaded up by Tully Blanchard. This of course led to Spears being able to punch Sydal, then hit the C4.
After the match, Spears attempted to attack Sydal again, but Scorpio Sky made the save. That’s the show folks!
