AEW & NXT Ratings Down | Wrestling News Update, February 27, 2020

AEW BEATS NXT IN ALL DEMOGRAPHICS, RATINGS DOWN FOR BOTH SHOWS

Both AEW Dynamite and NXT fell a bit in the ratings this week, with AEW averaging 865,000 viewers, down three percent from last week and NXT had an average audience of 717,000 viewers, down eight percent.

For the first time, it was a clean sweep for AEW in the demo categories, even in the NXT-dominated over 50’s. The closest NXT came was in that category with a 0.34 rating to a 0.36 for Dynamite.

This weeks rating was the lowest for NXT in a month.

CHRIS JERICHO GETS SEVEN STITCHES IN HIS HEAD

During the weigh-in segment for their AEW World title match on last night’s episode of Dynamite, Jon Moxley headbutted champion Chris Jericho. It caught Jericho right between the eyes, opening up a cut that needed seven stitches to close.

Chris Jericho is set to defend his AEW Title against Jon Moxley this Saturday at AEW Revolution in Chicago, Illinois.

ROH ANNOUNCE WAR OF THE WORLDS TOUR DATES

Ring Of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling have announced the dates for this year’s War of the Worlds events today, with the tour taking place in May and consisting of four shows.

  • Wednesday, May 6: Buffalo RiverWorks, Buffalo, New York
  • Thursday, May 7: Ted Reeve Arena, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
  • Saturday, May 9: Wings Event Center, Kalamazoo, Michigan
  • Sunday, May 10: The Odeum Expo Center, Villa Park, Illinois

ROH has partnered with NJPW for War of the Worlds every year since 2014. The NJPW wrestlers who will be taking part in this year’s shows haven’t been revealed yet.

ILJA DRAGUNOV ANNOUNCED FOR 2020 SUPER STRONG STYLE 16

NXT UK superstar Ilja Dragunov is the sixth man added to PROGRESS Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 2020.

Dragunov, a beaten semi-finalist in last years tournament, joins Rampage Brown, Sonico, Chris Ridgeway, Travis Banks and Jonathan Gresham in this years 16-man field.

This years tournament takes place at Alexandra Palace across May 23rd, 24th and 25th.

TAG MATCH MADE FOR PROGRESS CHAPTER 104

Earlier today, PROGRESS announced that World Champion Cara Noir and Proteus Champion Paul Robinson will be defending their titles over WrestleMania weekend, meaning they will not defend them at the next chapter.

Therefore, Noir and Robinson will be unlikely partners against Destination Everwhere’s Connor Mills and The O.J.M.O.

PROGRESS Chapter 104: Jeff Goldblum’s Fly Machine takes place on March 29th at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London.
