AEW DYNAMITE DEFEATS NXT ONCE AGAIN
Last night’s Bash at the Beach-themed episode of AEW Dynamite evened out from last weeks offering, averaging 940,000 total viewers. WWE NXT was a distant second once again, clocking in at 700,000.
NXT was down three percent from last week, in a show that featured a battle royal to find the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.
AEW did a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 demo, where NXT did a 0.21, which was up 11 percent from last week. AEW beat NXT in every demo (having nearly double in Males 18-49) except those over 50 where NXT had a very narrow win in that category, drawing a 0.35 rating to AEW’s 0.34.
REY FENIX POSSIBLY INJURED
Rey Fenix may have suffered a neck injury during last nights AEW Dynamite taping.
Rey Fenix faced Joey Janela in a match for next week’s show. During the match, Fenix appeared to have suffered some sort of neck injury following a piledriver from Janela. After the match, Fenix had to be helped to the back.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was stated that Fenix has been hurting lately, and then got hurt worse in the match.

WWE SUING AEW OVER ‘BASH AT THE BEACH’?
On Wrestling Observer Radio, members of The Elite came out to speak to the crowd after last night’s “Bash at the Beach” edition of AEW Dynamite in Miami. They mentioned how they would be getting sued for calling the show “Bash at the Beach.” There’s no word yet on if any lawsuit has been filed by WWE, but Meltzer did point out that there would have been a reason that the AEW talents mentioned possible legal action in front of the crowd last night.
Cody obtained ownership of the “Bash at the Beach” trademark back in March 2019, along with other trademarks for classic WCW/NWA wrestling pay-per-view names, but there had been rumors of WWE taking action to stop AEW from using the name.
AEW will be using the “Bash at the Beach” name again next Wednesday.
KACY CATANZARO RETURNS TO NXT
Following months of rumours regarding her future with WWE, Kacy Catanzaro returned on this week’s NXT.
Catanzaro was a surprise entrant in Wednesday’s battle royal for an NXT Women’s title shot at TakeOver: Portland. She was ultimately eliminated by Io Shirai.
Ricochet had denied any rumours of Catanzaro leaving the company in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso back in September.
TWO CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE QUALIFIERS ANNOUNCED FOR NXT UK NEXT WEEK
On this weeks NXT UK, two qualifying matches were announced for next weeks episode from York, where the winners will head to Worlds Collide to be in a fatal four way for Angel Garza’s NXT Cruiserweight Title.
The qualifiers will be Jordan Devlin vs. Ligero and Travis Banks vs. Brian Kendrick. Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott qualified, defeated Tyler Breeze and Lio Rush on ths past weeks episode of NXT US.
TWITCH BAN IMPACT WRESTLING
On this week’s episode of IMPACT Wrestling, RVD held a “special celebration” RVD held a special celebration with himself, his girlfriend Katie Forbes and her girlfriend Jennifer. This footage has, according to StreamerBans, got IMPACT Wrestling’s Twitch channel suspended and currently, all of their content on the streaming site is unavailable.
During this celebration he engaged in frivolous activities with his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s girlfriend on a bed of roses. After drinking champagne and kissing in their underwear, the two women explain they are going to change into something more comfortable. The segment then ends with RVD, Forbes, and Jennifer all topless and covered in whipped cream. They then pull back Van Dam’s robe and imply they are going to engage in sexual activities.
Twitch’s terms of service explain that broadcasting “Nudity and sexually explicit content or activities, such as pornography, sexual acts or intercourse, and sexual services” and “Sexually suggestive content or activities,” will result in a ban.
MLW OPENWEIGHT TITLE MATCH MADE FOR FIGHTLAND
MLW announced today that T-Hawk will challenge Alexander Hammerstone for the National Openweight Championship at Fightland at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This show will take place of February 1st. Hammerstone has held the National Openweight title since becoming the inaugural champion in June 2019.
