Brian Pillman Jr. Set For AEW Dark | Wrestling News Update, July 5 2020

 

BRIAN PILLMAN JR. IN ACTION ON AEW DARK

Following on From Brian Pillman being spotted in the crowd for Fyter Fest night 1, it’s now been confirmed that he will be in action on this Tuesday’s AEW Dark.

Pillman is set to face Shawn Spears in a singles match on Dark. Although Pillman is currently signed to MLW, his contract allows him to work with other promotions. In fact, this won’t be Brian’s debut for the promotion, having taken part in the Casino Battle Royal at the first Double or Nothing. Dave Meltzer has confirmed that MLW has no issue with Pillman appearing on the show. Dark this week sees another bumper collection of matches, see below for the card:

RECENTLY RELEASED WWE STAR PROMISES BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Sarah Logan was, unfortunately, part of the black Wednesday releases in April. The star has been quiet since leaving the WWE, other than saying she would be stepping away from wrestling late last month.

Sarah posted that she’d have a huge announcement tomorrow, after the latest episode of The Wild and the Free show airs. The Wild and the Free is a YouTube channel run by Sarah and her Husband Ray (Erik), the channel follows them as they undertake different tasks, the channel description includes, hunting, wrestling, training, farming, shooting and other activities.

NJPW POSTPONES G1 CLIMAX

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, New Japan President Harold Meij confirmed that the G1 Climax would be pushed back to the autumn.

In the interview, he spoke about how different wrestling was now. Harold explained how there had been concerns regarding the appearance of the wrestling with no fans in attendance. He went on to describe the relief he felt when fans thanked him following the first shows put on following the restrictions.

Talking on the G1 Climax, Harold said the following:

As a result of the now-postponed Tokyo Olympics, we had already decided to move our annual G1 Climax tournament, which traditionally takes place during the summer months, to the autumn,” Meij stated. “It is still on the calendar, although again, venues and crowd capacity will be dependent on both our own and the local governments’ guidelines. As for our previously scheduled tours like Best of the Super Juniors, both fans and wrestlers alike were disappointed at their cancellation. All of those voices will be taken into account in the second half of the year as we look to present something to fans that matches, or even surpasses, our initial plans.

BULLY RAY NOW FREE AGENT

PWInsider has confirmed the earlier reports that Bully Ray was no longer under contract with ROH.

Apparently the plan was for Bully to leave the company this year anyway, there were plans for him to stay on to Supercard of Honor and finish up there. Due to COVID-19, this obviously couldn’t happen. According to PWInsider, Bully felt he had done all he could do with ROH.

TWO NJPW STARS SUFFER KNEE INJURIES

YOSHI-HASHI and YOH have both suffered knee injuries according to NJPW. The pair picked up the injuries during this year’s New Japan Cup. YOSHI-HASHI seemingly picked up the injury in the second round when he defeated BUSHI, while YOH hasn’t been in action since losing to BUSHI in the first round.

Neither star will be available for either the New Japan Cup Finals or Dominion. No timetable has been given for either’s return.
