Charlotte Flair Injured | Wrestling News Update, June 23 2020

CHARLOTTE WRITTEN OFF TV

On last night’s episode of RAW, Charlotte suffered a vicious attack at the hands of Nia Jax as WWE wrote Flair off television.

There are a number of different, contradicting explanations as to why we won’t be seeing WWE’s queen any time soon. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer claims Charlotte is taking time off for surgery, talkSport, however, have reported that the surgery is coincidental and Charlotte is just taking a well-earned break.

WWE has reported that Charlotte is being evaluated for a possible fracture to her collarbone, but this has been debunked by Meltzer.

SAMMY GUEVARA SUSPENDED WITHOUT PAY

After historic footage emerged of Sammy Guevara making explicit sexual threats towards Sasha Banks, AEW has released a statement detailing how they plan to deal with the incident. Click here to read more about AEW’s statement.

Sasha Banks & Sammy Guevara have since discussed the matter, and Sammy has responded on his YouTube Channel.

JOEY RYAN AND DAVE CRIST FIRED FROM IMPACT

Following several revelations from the #SpeakingOut movement, Impact Wrestling has announced that the contracts of both Joey Ryan and Dave Crist have been terminated.

Along a similar vein, Michael Elgin has been suspended, pending the results of a review of his conduct. The full statement was released on the Impact website and can be seen below:

IMPACT Wrestling confirms that it has terminated its contracts with Dave Crist and Joey Ryan, effective immediately. In addition, it has suspended Michael Elgin pending further review of allegations of misconduct.

According to PWInsider, Impact is now working to remove any mention of Joey Ryan from tomorrow night’s episode. He was supposed to open the show with Cancel Culture taking on Crazzy Steve and unannounced partners

WWE BACKSTAGE TO END WEEKLY PRODUCTION

FOX has seemingly pulled WWE Backstage, and it looks like there is little chance of the show returning.

The story was first reported yesterday by Sports Business Journal. No reason was given for the cancellation, though poor viewership is likely to be a factor.

Backstage has continued through the COVID-19 pandemic with changes to the show’s format. The show has been running for less than a year, but even with the addition of CM Punk, the show gained the traction with the fan base towards its end.

FOX said the following in relation to the termination of Backstage:

Today, we announced programming changes designed to better address the needs of our business. As a result, some positions in our production department have been eliminated.

MATT HARDY VS. SANTANA ANNOUNCED FOR DYNAMITE

As a replacement to the advertised Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara, AEW has announced that Santana will now face off against Matt.

Sammy’s removal obviously comes from his suspension for the terrible comments he made regarding Sasha Banks.

Matt has opened a poll, allowing twitter users to vote on which version of Matt Hardy should face Santana. Three options are available, Broken Matt, Unkillable Matt, or Old School Matt.
