It’s something that wrestling fans have been wanting for the past five and a half years: a CM Punk return in Chicago.
Starrcast has just made the announcement that CM Punk will be appearing at the convention during AEW’s All Out weekend. Starrcast has not specified what Punk will be doing during the weekend, but you could expect a Q&A session with him, as well as a meet and greet.
Interestingly, Chris Jericho was recently asked about the Straight Edge Superstar on a recent interview with Collider Live saying that “It would be a huge pop to get him”. The Young Bucks have also said to Chris Van Vliet that they’ve spoken to Punk regularly about joining AEW, but that it was extremely unlikely as he’s done with wrestling.
As of April, CM Punk’s UFC contract was still valid despite his two losses to Mickey Gall and Mike Jackson. The last we’ve heard about Punk’s MMA career was earlier this year when Anthony Pettis said that Punk is still in the gym everyday training and learning Jiu-Jitsu.
His last official wrestling appearance was the Royal Rumble in 2014, although many have many allusions that he’s been appearing on the independent circuit since.
