RAW had it’s final stop on the Road to WrestleMania and the wheels were set in motion for several marquee match ups.
In front of a raucous Las Vegas crowd, Roman Reigns outlasted six other competitors to win the men’s Elimination Chamber, lastly beating Braun Strowman with a barrage of superman punches and a duo of spears to floor ‘The Monster Amongst Men’ and earn the right to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania. Strowman was the last man standing however, as he brutalized Reigns with powerslams and hurling Roman through one of the pods. Strowman was the Chamber MVP, eliminating The Miz, Elias, John Cena, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins before coming up short, and leaving many fans wishing that Braun was the one heading in to face ‘The Beast’.
The other notable headline was the official contract signing of former UFC fighter Ronda Rousey. It was not without controversy as Raw General Manager Kurt Angle let slip that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon (who were present at the signing) has alterior motives in signing Rousey. Tempers flared as Rousey slammed Triple H through a table, only for Stephanie to slap Rousey and bail; potentially sewing the seeds for a ‘Mania match in the near future.
In the women’s Elimination Chamber, Alexa Bliss retained her WWE Raw Women’s Championship, outlasting Sasha Banks, Bayley, Mickie James, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, dropping ‘The Boss’ with a top rope DDT to keep her gold, and going on to face Asuka at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Speaking of Asuka, she kept her title match one-on-one by beating Nia Jax in a physical match-up, ending when Asuka rolled Jax up when Nia went for a powerbomb. Jax however stood tall as she smashed Asuka through the barrier post-match.
The Bar retained their WWE Raw Tag Team Titles, beating Titus Worldwide when Cesaro clipped Apollo‘s knee, and then the duo hit a springboard assisted White Noise for the victory.
Woken Matt Hardy got a win over Bray Wyatt in a battle of the bizarre, when Hardy countered the Sister Abigail and hit ‘The Eater of Worlds’ with the Twist of Fate for the win and finally, in the pre-show The Club beat The Miztourage when Bo Dallas fell victim to The Magic Killer.
