Eric Young debuts at latest set of NXT tapings

Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Eric Young debuts at the latest round of NXT TV tapings at Full Sail University in Orlando, FL.

Twitter was ablaze last night after Eric Young debuts. Images began swirling in of the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion heading into Full Sail University, sending the rumour mill into overdrive. Fans didn’t have to wait long for confirmation, as on the first episode of the latest set of tapings, due to air in the next couple of weeks, Eric Young, 36, made his official NXT debut.

Shortly after, WWE’s official twitter account confirmed the news by sharing a video of Young making his entrance at the show to a very positive reaction from the live crowd.

It’s not the first time Eric Young has appeared on WWE television. In 2003, Young teamed with former TNA tag team partner Bobby Roode on an episode of Velocity in a losing effort to Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli.

He made his TNA debut in 2004, and was with the company for 12 years. There, he captured several championships including the TNA World Tag Team Championship twice, the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and even won the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship with ODB.

On the NXT tapings, Eric Young makes his in-ring debut against another former TNA World Heavyweight Champion – Samoa Joe.

On March 19, Young and his tag team partner Booby Roode announced their departures from TNA Impact Wrestling on twitter, and talk instantly began as to whether either man would join WWE or NXT. Roode was shown on camera at NXT TakeOver: Dallas but it has yet to be announced if he has signed a deal with the company.

WWE COO Triple H also tweeted the news, dubbing it a “new era” of WWE NXT.
