Since the controversial ending of Game of Thrones season 8, fans have been clamoring for more content. Whether it was a remake of the series finale or to explore the journeys of other beloved characters. While several prequel and sequel ideas were thrown around, they ultimately died out, except for one; House of the Dragon which will premiere on August, 21 on HBO Max.
The timeline for this story occurs 200 years before Game of Thrones. Fans will revisit Westeros for it’s earlier days based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. If you feel like you didn’t get enough of Viserion, Rhaegal and Drogon in the main series, dragons won’t be an issue here since House Targaryen had 18 dragons leading up to their civil war known as, “The Dance of Dragons.” Knowing how deaths to huge characters in this world are quite common, the number of surviving dragons will likely shrink as we come towards the end of the war.
The series will feature a strong star studded cast such as Paddy Considine, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, and Matt Smith. For the viewers who want a little more insight of what to expect, Martin did an interview back in 2016 and said this, “If you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about, “Well, I can’t actually spill those beans. But you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, Dangerous Women and Rogues, and then move on to Archmaester Gyldayn’s history, Fire & Blood.”
