Irish Star Valkryie Signs With NXT UK | Wrestling News Update, January 20th 2020

KANE REPORTEDLY APPEARING AT ROYAL RUMBLE

PW Insider’s Mike Johnson reported Monday that Kane is scheduled to appear at Sunday’s Royal Rumble. Johnson did not specify whether Kane is scheduled to be in the Rumble match or a possible involvement in the Wyatt-Bryan strap match. The last time Kane appeared at a Royal Rumble was during the 2016 Royal Rumble match, where he was eliminated by Braun Strowman.

He made an appearance on last Friday’s SmackDown, cutting a promo and seemingly assisting his former ‘Team Hell No’ teammate Daniel Bryan against ‘The Fiend’.

JEFF HARDY SCHEDULED FOR COURT POST-WRESTLEMANIA

According to North Carolina court records and PWInsider, Jeff Hardy is scheduled to return to court on Monday, April 6th which is the day after WrestleMania.

Hardy is scheduled to be in a Moore County, NC courtroom that day to face charges from his arrest back in October, where he was pulled over and charged with DWI that night. He indicated that he had been in a fight with his wife.

Hardy has been arrested twice since being put on the shelf following knee surgery back in May.

NXT UK SIGN IRISH WOMEN’S WRESTLER VALKYRIE

Following her debut at this past weekend’s set of tapings, Valkyrie has signed on with NXT UK.

Ireland’s Fight Factory Pro Wrestling tweeted congratulations to the 23-year old Dublin native, who wrestled Amale twice over this past weekends tapings, going under the name Aoife Valkyrie.

Valkryie is a former Irish Junior Heavyweight Champion, OTT Women’s Champion and Pro Wrestling EVE Tag Team Champion, alongside her ‘Woke Queens’ tag partner, Debbie Keitel.

This comes after Jazzy Gabert left the company, and there have been rumours of Killer Kelly’s departure.

JONATHAN GRESHAM FIRST SSS16 ENTRANT

Former PROGRESS Tag Team Champion Jonathan Gresham has been announced as the first entrant for PROGRESS Wrestling’s Super Strong Style 16 2020.

He will be amongst the field of 16 that will battle from the 23rd to the 25th of May in Alexandra Palace in London. Last year’s winner was David Starr.

ROH TO HOLD ‘PAST VS PRESENT’ EVENT

Ring of Honor have announced a special ‘past vs present’ event on March 14th.

Taking place in Sams Town Casino, ROH hyped that the show “will feature stars of ROH Past such as Doug Williams, Homicide, Matt Sydal, Necro Butcher, and more as they take on the current stars of ROH today!”

The post also featuring former stars Allison Danger, alongside current roster members like Nicole Savoy, PCO, Marty Scurll, Jonathan Gresham, and Bandido.

This show will happen the day after ROH’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view on Friday, March 13th, also taking place at Sams Town Casino.

DRAGON LEE TO CHALLENGE FOR ROH TITLE AT BOUND BY HONOR

Ring of Honor has announced a number of matches for Bound By Honor, including PCO defending his ROH World Title against Bandido.

They have also announced Jeff Cobb & Dan Maff vs The Briscoes, Slex making his debut vs. Marty Scurll and La Faccion Ingobernable (Kenny King & Rush) will face Villain Enterprises (Brody King & Flip Gordon).

Bound By Honor takes place on February 28th at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

ALEX SHELLEY & DAVEY BOY SMITH JR ANNOUNCED FOR GCW’S ‘THE COLLECTIVE’

Two big names have been announced for Global Force Wrestling’s ‘The Collective’ events over WrestleMania weekend.

Alex Shelley will make his GCW debut at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 4 on Friday, April 3rd. He will be alongside Will Ospreay and The Great Muta, who have already been announced.

Also, Davey Boy Smith Jr. has been confirmed that he will return to take part at Josh Barnett’s BloodSport III on Thursday, April 2nd.

Both Spring Break and Bloodsport are taking place at The Cuban Club in Tampa, Florida.
