Jordan Devlin Suffers Injury | Wrestling News Update, February 23rd, 2020

With news on Jeff Hardy’s return and Jordan Devlin’s injury, Matty Deller brings you the Wrestling News Update.

JEFF HARDY BACKSTAGE AT SMACKDOWN

According to PWInsider, Jeff Hardy was backstage at last Friday’s SmackDown. The report also indicated that Hardy is expected to be at next week’s SmackDown tapings, showing that he’ll more than likely be with the blue brand going forward.

It was reported earlier this month that Hardy was expected back soon as he was seen at the WWE Performance Center. Hardy has been out for 6-9 months with a leg injury.

Jeff’s contract was scheduled to expire on March 1st, but WWE has likely added that time on to that since he’s been on the shelf.

JORDAN DEVLIN SUFFERS INJURY

NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin was forced to pull out of today’s PROGRESS Wrestling show ‘Chapter 103: Beer Snake City’ due to injury. He sent a tweet out before the show saying that he was suffering from elbow bursitis and did not want to suffer a longer lay-off by not resting it.

He was meant to team with his PROGRESS Tag Team Championship partner Scotty Davis against The Workhorsemen duo of JD Drake & Anthony Henry. Eddie Kingston was his replacement.

FLAIR VS BELAIR ANNOUNCED FOR THIS WEEK’S NXT

WWE has confirmed that Charlotte Flair will return to NXT to face off against Bianca BelAir on Wednesday’s episode of NXT.

Charlotte sent out a tweet accepting the challenge that Belair had issued this week, saying;

“NXT Women calling out The Queen is apparently the trending thing to do. I would want to face the best too. See you Wednesday. @WWENXT”

Charlotte Flair is set to face Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.

KENNY OMEGA SET TO RETURN TO DDT

All Elite Wrestling superstar Kenny Omega will be returning to DDT Pro Wrestling later this year.

It was announced during DDT’s Into The Fight event that Kenny Omega would be appearing at Wrestle Peter Pan, DDT’s biggest event of the year, on June 7th at the Saitama Super Arena.

This would mark the first time Omega has appeared for the promotion since November 3rd, when he teamed with Riho to defeat Antonio Honda and Miyu Yamashita.

CHRIS BROOKES WINS DDT UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Chris Brookes has already struck gold during his year-long excursion in Japan, as he became the inaugural DDT Universal Champion.

Brookes defeated Konosuke Takeshita for the new title at DDT “Into The Fight 2020” from Korakuen Hall, pinning his opponent with Death By Roll-Up.

His celebrations were short-lived as DAMNATION’s Daisuke Sasaki attacked Brookes from behind with a steel chair, then took the belt and ran with it to set up the first challenge.
