KIP SABIAN AND PENELOPE FORD GET ENGAGED
— Penelope Ford (@thePenelopeFord) April 5, 2020
In some very happy news, AEW stars Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford announced their engagement earlier today.
Kip asked the question at some point over the weekend, with both stars posting the news to their social media today.
Penelope wrote the following on her Instagram account:
WE’RE ENGAGED! I was so confused why he was on his knee when we were taking a picture for his parents to frame. This has been the happiest moment in my life and we had our puppy there with us. I’m still so shocked! Happy anniversary to MY FIANCÉ! Here’s to so many more. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! AHH! I get to marry my best friend!
Apparently, Kip pretended to be taking a photo to send his parents when he got down on one knee and popped the question:
All “Characters” and Gimmicks aside.
I woke up knowing what today was. Not only is it our anniversary, but it was the day that I was going to ask @the_penelopeford to marry me & she had no idea.
After tricking her into a “family photo for my parents” on a timer (actually a video) we went to our favorite place to “take it”. Bringing Oscar for the ride. .
She said yes!!!!
WWE PLANNING TO SECRETLY FILMING SMACKDOWN
When WWE started pre-recording shows and material it was pretty well known that their plans only ran up to WrestleMania. With time relentlessly marching forward, it seems WWE may be running out of options now their pre-recorded material is all but used up.
According to Dave Meltzer, WWE is pushing ahead with plans to film new content next week. This could entail real issues, as WWE is increasingly going against the advice given by the US government.
Dave went on to say that while WWE is planning to shoot between now and Monday, they’re keeping the location a secret as it’s believed to be in a state which is in lockdown.
Restrictions are being increased left right and centre, but with states left to impose their restrictions, there is a lot of confusion around what people should or shouldn’t be doing. For instance, as of April 1, all residents of Florida have been ordered to stay at home. It will be impossible for WWE to use either the Performance Center or Full Sail for their filming.
This does contrast with AEW, who finished filming on Friday and are said to be set until mid-May.
AEW ANNOUNCE MATCHES FOR THIS WEEK’S DYNAMITE
3 days to fill out a bracket before Wednesday‘s all-new #AEWDynamite! The #TNTChampionship Tournament opens with @CodyRhodes v. @Perfec10n Shawn Spears, + a BIG @shidahikaru v. @RealBrittBaker match, @LanceHoyt in action & much more + @IAmJericho & @tonyschiavone24 on commentary! https://t.co/JVf0WQboIC
— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) April 5, 2020
Two additional matches have been announced for this week’s episode of Dynamite. Unusually, one of the announcements came straight from Tony Khan, something not seen before.
Earlier today Tony Khan posted a message to his Twitter account announcing Britt Baker vs. Hikaru Shida. The match builds on the pair’s interaction last week when the pair exchanged heated words during Shida and Anna Jayy’s match.
Additionally, Cody will meet Shawn Spears in the first round of the TNT Championship Tournament. The pair haven’t met since All Out, eight months ago. The prize for the tournament’s eventual winner is being the inaugural TNT Champion.
In a non-match focused announcement, former AEW Champion, Chris Jericho, will be joining Tony Schiavone on commentary this week.
AEW GOING INTO HIBERNATION
Following AEW’s final taping session last Friday, the company will be shut down indefinitely according to Dave Meltzer.
Dave claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio. During the segment, Dave confirmed that the company had indeed shot enough material to last them until mid-May.
Dave did reveal some new information about May’s Double or Nothing show. The show is very much up in the air at the moment. Of course, the company can’t predict what may happen with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, but even the idea of an empty arena show is very doubtful, with the company unsure if a venue will even be available, assuming they’re allowed to work at all.
KEVIN OWENS REVEALS ORIGINAL WRESTLEMANIA PLANS
I went to a show there in January. As soon as I saw it, I told myself no matter what I was doing at Mania, I’d find a way to jump off that thing. I even took pics of it to figure out the best way to go about it.
It didn’t work out but I found the next best thing! https://t.co/PCGXr0Aw7I

During night one of WrestleMania, we saw Kevin Owen and Seth Rollins take part in a brutal 18-minute match. Taking to Twitter after the match, Kevin Owens let us in on his original plans for their encounter.
It’s important to remember that this year’s WrestleMania was booked to take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Florida. The stadium plays host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. One of the unique points of the stadium is a huge pirate ship at one of the ends.
Towards the end of last night’s match, Kevin jumped off the WrestleMania sign at the Performace Center, crashing through Seth and the announce table. Kevin tweeted that his original plans were to throw himself off the Tampa Bay Boat instead. Apparently, after visiting the venue in January, he was inspired, taking multiple pictures and putting some serious thought behind it!
