NXT/AEW Ratings, Alicia Fox Done With WWE & New Japan Buys STARDOM | Wrestling News Update, October 17th 2019

AEW BEATS NXT AGAIN IN THE RATINGS

AEW Dynamite has topped WWE NXT in viewership for the third week in a row, with TNT drawing 1.014 million viewers while the USA Network drew 712,000 viewers, according to Showbuzz Daily.

Dynamite dropped 0.4% in viewership, whilst NXT dropped 10%. AEW drew a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic, topping the 0.20 that NXT got.

SETH ROLLINS OUT OF CROWN JEWEL TAG MATCH

In a video that WWE uploaded today, it was announced that Seth Rollins will no longer be part of the Team Hogan vs. Team Flair five-on-five tag match. 

He will still be wrestling at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 31st, defending his WWE Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt in a falls count anywhere match.

Rusev, Ricochet, and three partners will be on Team Hogan, while Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, Shinsuke Nakamura, and a partner will be on Team Flair.

ALICIA FOX MOVED TO ALUMNI PAGE ON WWE.COM

Alicia Fox’s profile on WWE.com has been moved to the website’s alumni section, seemingly showing that her time with the company may have concluded.

Fox last wrestled a pair of matches for the company in April, including a loss to Women’s champion Becky Lynch on the April 22 Raw and a tag match loss alongside Tamina to The IIconics the following week.

Her final match was on a house show in Saginaw, MI on February 10th where she, Mickie James, and Nikki Cross lost to Bayley, Dana Brooke, and Natalya.

This was the match she reportedly turned up intoxicated for, which led to a firing of long-term WWE producer, Arn Anderson.

WWE ANNOUNCE THREE MATCHES FOR FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN

On this Friday’s SmackDown on FOX, three huge matches have been announced – two of which have championship implications.

Roman Reigns will face Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Intercontinental Championship after an heated Twitter exchange between Reigns and Sami Zayn. Also, there will be a six-pack challenge where Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Nikki Cross & Carmella where the winner will face Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Also, there will be a Crown Jewel preview of sorts as four teams in the tag team turmoil match will battle in an eight-man tag. The New Day and Heavy Machinery will face SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Revival and former RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode.

AUTHORS OF PAIN DRAFTED TO RAW

WWE announced today that The Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar) have joined the Raw roster.

WWE began hyping the return of AOP on the September 16th episode of Raw. They haven’t had a televised match since taking part in the battle royal at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia this June, which was Akam’s return from a knee injury.

WWE ANNOUNCE FIRST WEEKLY PODCAST

WWE announced today that their official podcast network is set to launch on October 30th.

The podcast network’s first show will be called “After the Bell.” It will be hosted by Corey Graves, with the premiere episode being released on Wednesday, October 30th.

The podcast is described as:

“Each Wednesday, Graves will break down the action from WWE’s flagship programming, taking listeners on a captivating ride through the hottest WWE storylines while he catches up with the most noteworthy Superstars of the week.”

Triple H will be the shows first guest.

IMPACT SIGN KATIE FORBES

Katie Forbes has announced that she has signed a deal with Impact Wrestling.

Forbes announced this on the Women’s Pro Wrestling Weekly podcast, saying;

“Yeah, so they let me be me, and I can embrace it. So, you all will see a lot more of that because starting today, I’ve just signed with Impact,”

Forbes has had try-outs with WWE and wrestled for Ring Of Honor. She made her Impact debut against Jordynne Grace last week.
