NXT Beats AEW In Ratings | Wrestling News Update, December 2nd 2019

NXT BEATS AEW IN RATINGS AGAIN

According to Showbuzz Daily, NXT averaged 810,000 viewers for its November 27 broadcast, which is actually a 12 percent drop from the previous week’s 916,000.

AEW Dynamite, meanwhile dropped down to 663,000 viewers, a 26 percent drop from last week’s 893,000.

In demos, Dynamite finished 15th for the night in viewers 18-49 with a 0.26 whereas NXT finished 19th (down from 14th the prior week) with a 0.24 rating.

The only demographic in which NXT won, as expected, is in viewers over 50.

These ratings are delayed (and so low) due to the Thanksgiving holidays.

CHARLOTTE FLAIR AND ANDRADE TRADEMARK NAMES

Charlotte Flair and Andrade recently filed to trademark names with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) that are not already owned by WWE.

Flair filed to trademark “The Queen of Wrestling” and “Ashley Flair” for merchandise and entertainment uses and Andrade filed to trademark “El Idolo” and “La Sombra” for similar uses

WWE Superstar Luke Harper also filed a trademark on the name Brodie Lee, which was his name on the independent circuit.

STEPHEN AMELL TO APPEAR ON WWE BACKSTAGE

WWE on FOX announced yesterday that Actor, pro wrestling fan and occasional in-ring competitor Stephen Amell will be the guest on WWE Backstage’s Promo School segment this Tuesday. 

The segment features an athlete or celebrity cutting a promo and being graded by the Backstage panel, with the target of their promo then getting to respond to them. This will be the fifth episode of Backstage since the show started on Tuesday’s on FS1.

Amell has wrestled for WWE, Ring Of Honor and All Elite Wrestling.

LAWLOR VS VON ERICH FAMILY MEMBER ANNOUNCED FOR OPERA CUP

MLW has hyped that Tom Lawlor will face a member of the Von Erich family at this week’s Opera Cup tapings.

According to MLW, Lawlor requested the match and is saying that his opponent is set but both Ross and Marshall Von Erich “are baffled by the announcement claiming they haven’t been approached about such a bout.”

Lawlor turned against the Von Erichs by hitting Ross with a steel chair and causing him to lose a title match to World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu on MLW Fusion’s Thanksgiving special.
