One of AEW’s biggest matches next week appears to be off the show entirely.
At a WrestleGate Pro show in Nottingham, England Hangman Page faced off with PAC, answering his open challenge. PAC was disqualified for using a low blow on the referee. PAC then attacked Page with a chair and pillmanized his leg.
After the angle, PAC said his goal was to injure Page so he’s not coming to Las Vegas, not appearing at Double or Nothing and he’s not coming to AEW at all.
The official word from AEW is that there were creative differences regarding the match and Pac won’t be on Saturday’s show. It’s well-known that because PAC takes his status as world champion with Dragon Gate seriously, he has not agreed to any losses since winning the Open the Dream Gate title. He has wrestled 30 minute draws with Will Ospreay and Zack Sabre Jr. AEW also wants to present a sports-like atmosphere and had their own direction for what they wanted.
Page will be wrestling against a new opponent, although the name probably won’t be announced before the PPV show. The door is still open for PAC to return to the promotion, but there is no new timeframe for that to happen.
