ROMAN REIGNS SAYS ABSENCE IS NOT DUE TO COVID-19
In an interview with TMZ, Roman Reigns said that the reason he is home instead of active in WWE is not due to health concerns but due to his newborn twins at home.
In the interview, the former WWE Champion said;
“They’re 8 weeks old so I had to make a decision for them,”
He also dismissed speculation that he was away from WWE due to being immunocompromised, saying;
“Talking to my doctors and stuff, I actually am fine and my immune system is good. The drugs that I take to fight the leukemia, they don’t attack your immune system,”
Reigns last match was a six-man tag with the Usos on a March 1st house show. He pulled out of his match with then-WWE Universal Champion Bill Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 and hasn’t been on TV since.
He also spoke about not knowing when he’ll be back in WWE and his growing family.
SUMMERSLAM LIKELY TO BE MOVED
WWE SummerSlam is set to be moved from it’s planned date and location, due to COVID-19.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced today that the city is planning a “healthy re-opening” when it’s safe, but all parades and festivals will not take place this summer in the city, up to and including Labor Day on September 7th.
SummerSlam is currently scheduled for August 23th from the TD Garden in Boston. WWE also has the August 21st SmackDown go-home show scheduled for the TD Garden, as well as the WWE NXT “Takeover: Boston” event on August 22nd, and the post-SummerSlam RAW on August 24th.
STEPHANIE MCMAHON SELLS WWE STOCK
Alongside her husband Paul “Triple H” Levesque and WWE Producer Kevin Dunn, It has been revealed that WWE’s Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon has sold some of her WWE stock.
McMahon has sold 23255 shares of Class A Common Stock valued at $44.29 a share, meaning the total sold is over $1,000,000.
WWE SET TO ADJOURN SECOND MEETING OF STOCKHOLDERS
WWE have announced on their Corporate website that for the second time, they will be adjourning their annual shareholders’ meeting due to COVID-19.
In a statement, WWE said;
World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:WWE) today announced that for a second time it intends to convene and then immediately adjourn its scheduled May 14, 2020 Annual Meeting of Stockholders until June 11, 2020 due to Governor Lamont’s stay-at-home/stay-safe executive order for the State of Connecticut. Such date was chosen in order to conform with the Delaware General Corporation law relating to adjournments, however, the June meeting may again be adjourned to a later date. To ensure the health and safety of its employees, stockholders, and others who attend the Annual Meeting, the Company will continue to carefully monitor the situation as such date approaches. The record date will remain February 20, 2020. Stockholders should comply with applicable restrictions and not attend the Annual Meeting on May 14. The Company will keep its stockholders apprised of all updates relating to the annual meeting as they become available.
OKADA DONATES TO JAPAN COVID-19 FUND
According to njpw1972.com, Kazuchika Okada has donated 5 million Yen ($47,010.00 USD) to the Nippon Foundation’s special coronavirus relief fund.
In Okada’s statement he said he’s always grateful for NJPW fans’ support, saying;
It’s my hope that I can get back to hearing the cheers of sold-out crowds as soon as possible.
It’s usually me receiving the support and power of the people, but now I feel it’s my turn to lend support to medical staff fighting this disease.
I hope fans continue to stay home and stay healthy so that we can return to the ring as soon as possible.
The contribution will support doctors, nurses, and volunteers working in the front lines combating the coronavirus in Japan.
