WWE REPORTS ECONOMIC BENEFIT OF WRESTLEMANIA TO HOST CITIES
Earlier today WWE issued a press release detailing the positive economic impact hosting WrestleMania has had. This has become an annuel event, with the company obviously using the findings to help secure favourible deals in the future.
The headline coming from the press release is that this year’s event generated over $165 million for the New York and New Jersey areas. The findings are based on direct, indirect, and induced impact of visitors. Conducted the the Engima Research Corporation, who were quick to point out the 52% of attendees were from outside the area.
With the report being issued yearly, it makes for comparisons between the years intesting. The last time WrestleMania was in New York/New Jersey was 2013 for WrestleMania 29. The two events both took place at the MetLife Stadium and had similar attendances, with a difference of only 2%. WrestleMania 35 generated $165 million, while ‘Mania 29 saw an increase of $101 million. With this 61% increase, and the fact the WrestleMania has generated at least $100 million for eight consecutive years will make happy reading for WWE headoffice.
