SMACKDOWN’S FOX DEBUT DRAWS BIG VIEWERSHIP

Friday Night SmackDown’s debut on FOX last night averaged 3.87 million viewers in the fast nationals. These measure the top metered markets in the US.

SmackDown also easily won the night in the key 18-49 demos and finished second to CBS overall. The number was lower than most industry predictions of 4 to 4.5 million, but was still a fantastic result for a pro wrestling show.

EDGE SHOOTS DOWN RING RETURN RUMOURS

WWE Hall of Famer Edge took to Twitter tonight and apparently addressed the reports on his WWE future.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that Edge recently signed a new WWE deal after negotiating with both them and AEW, which led to a much higher offer from WWE for him to stay. That report noted that Edge still wasn’t cleared by WWE doctors, but that a ring return had been privately discussed by officials. It was then reported via @fightoracle, that Edge has been medically cleared by WWE doctors for in-ring action.

But, he put those rumours to bed by saying;

“No I’m not and no I’m not,”

TYSON FURY TO APPEAR ON RAW

WWE has announced that they have offered Fury an “open microphone” on this coming Monday’s episode of Raw

On WWE.com, they said;

WWE is offering Tyson Fury an open microphone… so, what could possibly go wrong?

After hopping the guardrail this past Friday Night on SmackDown in an attempt to confront Braun Strowman, the always controversial Fury will now be offered an open forum this Monday night on Raw to speak his mind following the explosive incident that saw a small army of security struggle to keep him from getting into the ring to mix it up with The Monster Among Men.

Braun Strowman and the former Heavyweight boxing Champion of The World were pulled apart from Friday Night SmackDown following an eight-man tag match, where Strowman threw Dolph Ziggler into Fury.

BROCK LESNAR VS CAIN VELASQUEZ RUMOURED FOR CROWN JEWEL

According to F4WOnline, Brock Lesnar will face Cain Velasquez at WWE Crown Jewel on October 31st in Saudi Arabia.

On last night’s SmackDown FOX premiere, following Brock Lesnar’s quick WWE Title victory over Kofi Kingston, Cain Velasquez joined Rey Mysterio and took down Lesnar, leading to a potential match between the two.

Velasquez reportedly has notified UFC officials of withdrawing from the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool, retiring him from active competition.

AEW ANNOUNCES NEW YOUTUBE SHOW, ‘DARK’

On Twitter today, Cody Rhodes announced that “AEW Dark” will premiere on the promotion’s YouTube channel on Tuesday October 8th.

Hosted by Tony Schiavone, it will feature “the matches you didn’t see on Dynamite.”

AEW had four dark matches following the AEW Dynamite taping in Washington D.C.

TRIPLE THREAT TAG TITLE MATCH MADE FOR BOUND FOR GLORY

During last night’s episode of Impact, it was announced that The North (Josh Alexander & Ethan Page) will defend their Impact Tag Team titles against Rich Swann & Willie Mack and RVD & Rhino in a triple threat match at Bound for Glory. Both teams have beaten The North in non-title action.

SIX MAN TAG TITLE MATCH MADE FOR NEW JAPAN ROAD

NJPW has announced that NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions Togi Makabe, Toru Yano & Ryusuke Taguchi will defend their titles against Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomoaki Honma & YOSHI-HASHI on October 7th.

The match was originally non-title, but it was made a title match after Tanahashi, Honma & YOSHI-HASHI defeated the champions in non-title action at Friday’s New Japan Road show.

TIMOTHY THATCHER WINS WXW TITLE

At wXw’s ‘World Tag Team Festival’, Timothy Thatcher defeated Bobby Gunns to win the wXw World Unified Championship. This is Thatchers first reign as champion.

SPIKE TRIVET WINS BRIGHTON TITLE

In shocking fashion, Spike Trivet won the Brighton Championship from Chuck Mambo at the final show of Riptide Wrestling’s ‘Brighton Spirit’. For full results, click here.
