TAPED AEW DYNAMITE STILL TOPS WWE NXT IN RATINGS

Wednesday’s special taped edition of Dynamite on TNT, filmed on Chris Jericho’s ‘Rock N Wrestling Rager’ cruise, drew 871,000 viewers compared to WWE NXT’s 769,000, according to Showbuzz Daily.

AEW topped NXT by 46% in the 18-49 demographic as it garnered a 0.35 rating, while NXT drew a 0.24 in the same demo this week.

NXT CHANGES NAME OF WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

PW Insider’s Mike Johnson has reported that WWE has decided to remove gender specificity from the WWE NXT Women’s Championship, renaming it the NXT Championship going forward.

There was no reason given for the change and why it’s being made now, and no confirmation whether this change will also happen with the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Titles as well.

Becky Lynch’s on this week’s Backstage said that WWE should drop referring to the women’s division as such.

DANIEL BRYAN VS THE FIEND CONTRACT SIGNING ANNOUNCED FOR SMACKDOWN

WWE has announced that Daniel Bryan and WWE Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will have the contract signing for the Royal Rumble Strap Match on Friday’s SmackDown.

Friday’s SmackDown on FOX from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

BIG SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH ANNOUNCED FOR SMACKDOWN

Also announced for Friday is a huge six-man tag team match pitting The Uso’s and Roman Reigns against King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.

This will be a preview of sorts as Roman Reigns will face Corbin in a falls count anywhere match this Sunday at the Royal Rumble.

KOTA IBUSHI OUT OF NEW BEGINNING USA TOUR DUE TO ILLNESS

New Japan Pro Wrestling posted on their website this morning that Kota Ibushi has contracted type-A influenza, and as a result will not be able to participate in the tour in America.

He will also not be a part of the scheduled meet and greet in Miami. Information on refunds can be found here.

A number of changes to the cards have taken place as a result of Ibushi’s withdrawal. Most notably, Chase Owens will instead face Rocky Romero. YOSHI-HASHI, who was originally set to team with Rocky Romero in the undercard, will now face Misterioso in a singles match on February 1st in Atlanta.

Romero will now also be teaming with Hiroshi Tanahashi, as the two will face off against Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa which takes place on January 30 in Miami.

AMAZING RED ADDED TO SUPERCARD OF HONOR

Ring Of Honor continues to add big names to their Supercard of Honor show in April, with legendary performer Amazing Red joining the card.

After announcing his retirement last April, Red has been wrestling since returning to the ring against Will Ospreay in NJPW’s Super J-Cup in August. Red tweeted earlier this month that he was going away for a small surgery but would be back in February.

The show is taking place at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, April 4th.

Red last wrestled for ROH at their 10th Anniversary pay-per-view in 2012.
