TESSA BLANCHARD ISSUES STATEMENT ON RECENT ALLEGATIONS

Impact World Champion, Tessa Blanchard, has issued a statement today regarding recent comments and posts by her peers recently.

The controversy started when Tessa posted a seemingly innocuous message, asking women to be supportive of each other. This sparked a number of comments from other female professional wrestlers, all calling Tessa out for her own past conduct.

One of the most damaging messages came from NWA Women’s champion Allysin Kay, who claimed Blanchard had spat in Ls Rosa Negra’s face and called her the N-word while they were in Japan. A number of stars came out claiming to have also witnessed the event, as well as La Rosa herself confirming it.

Tessa’s statement addresses the issues straight on. In it she says the allegation has been persoanlly upsetting, and the word isn’t in her vocabulary. Please see her statement below:

Over the last week, I have been accused of calling a fellow wrestler a racial slur. To read this allegation has been personally upsetting. To be clear, I absolutely did not use that word. That word is not in my vocabulary. That word is not in my heart. Racism is not in my heart.

Yet I know many people have to deal with racism in a way I will never have to. Racism is an awful part of American history, and it is equally awful that it’s still part of our society today. While I did not do what was claimed, I stand ready to use my platform to support the fight against racism however I can.
