In recent weeks, WWE fans have seen a masked figure seek to expose the company and its superstars’ secrets with revelations unfolding slowly over on Smackdown Live on Friday nights.
Throughout the past month or so, there has been great speculation as to who could be behind the recent antics, with cryptic tweets and messages leaving us all wondering.

The hacker angle is a highlight, not only on Friday nights but in the WWE as a whole, and there could be a huge reveal pending.
But just who is the masked hacker?
Today, we are going to be looking at five potential figures who could go on to be revealed as this mysterious hacker.

It has been a hot minute since we last saw Xavier Woods in action due to an injury, but could the former tag team champion look to be building up a huge return in unexpected fashion? There has been plenty of talk amongst fans regarding a potential split for The New Day for quite some time now.
But while the trio is evidently fantastic together their split appears to be an inevitable one and the hacker angle could be a huge opening for just that, and a new direction for Woods.
There is a whole other side to Xavier’s character and personality that we have not seen on screen in the WWE, and here is a chance to see something quite different from Woods. We have seen the hacker target tag teams massively with the line “some keep their friends close. Others keep their enemies closer” recently being spoken by the hacker himself.
Could this be a potential hint that a tag team figure could be behind the recent antics? And if so, who better than Woods to be revealed as the man behind it all and, in fact, that man keeps his enemies awfully close indeed.

When it comes to the hacker mystery there can be no denying that Mustafa Ali’s name is one that has been thrown into the conversation many times. One of the favourites to be revealed as the Hacker down the line it would not come as a huge surprise for many of the WWE Universe. Fans have pointed out that they believe Ali is behind the voice of the hacker and with the visuals identical to those of Ali and his entrance there are little details here all pointing to this former 205 Live star being behind one of the most exciting angles in the company today.
Ali is an incredible talent who has been deserving of so much more than he receives, and this could be a huge opportunity for him to work something amazing that could turn things around for him on a big scale. He may not be my personal favourite pick, but it would be great to see a different name thrown into the mix of a big angle and a new side of Ali’s character come to life.
For the next one, just hear me out.

I know that so many of us are just desperate to see CM Punk return to the ring and while it realistically seems we are a long way away from that actually happening there is plenty of reason to believe Punk could be behind the Hacker angle. If the former WWE Champion was to make a return, then this would most certainly be a very fitting set up and storyline to work.
Catering to his character perfectly there are so many creative options for Punk relating to hacker set up and could, in fact, go down an even deeper hole and explore bigger secrets and revelations that result in one of the biggest and best comeback storylines. Yes, this is pretty far fetched and more of a dream scenario but considering the close relationship Punk has with FOX as well as clear bridges being built between him and the WWE maybe this isn’t as far fetched as we may think and something amazing could be set to take place.

In all honesty, Jeff Hardy is my personal favourite to go on to be revealed as the Hacker. Incredibly fitting to a whole other side of his character this appears to be exactly what he would be behind. We haven’t seen all too much of Jeff in recent months and since returning to the WWE a couple of years ago we haven’t seen those big storylines and angles many of us may have expected.
However, the Hacker storyline could be exactly what fans have been waiting to see from Jeff since his WWE comeback. We know there are so many different elements to Jeff’s character and seeing a darker potentially heel side could be very refreshing and create a new main event star (recreate) in Hardy for Smackdown who could even go on to work a dream angle with the Fiend. Am I thinking too far ahead?

Can we really not put it past WWE to not have R-Truth revealed as the Hacker with the superstars catchphrase being used throughout the angle? Of course, ‘the truth shall set you free’ is most likely just a fitting phrase for the storyline but we must remember there is a whole other side to R-Truth and the more I think about it the more I would love to see Truth as the WWE Hacker. How great would it be for him to reveal that he was playing us all with the silly act and hiding a darker side of his character?
While playing the fool Truth could have been watching everyone more carefully than we thought, taking everything in in the process. Truth is a long time WWE superstar who in all fairness has always deserved more than he got and to be taken more seriously. He did have a great angle set up several years back with the ‘Little Jimmy’ storyline and his brief alliance with The Miz and remembering those days allows us to believe he could be behind all the drama going down on Smackdown even more. I would love to see a more series set up for the former United States Champion and this is exactly that and in fact quite fitting.
The Hacker angle is honestly one of my personal favourite things going on in WWE today. There is so much potential for this to be something fantastic and creates a very exciting and entertaining angle. There were, of course, other names that have been considered by fans to in fact be the hacker including Chad Gable but with so many potential names who could be behind this there are some amazing creative setups and we have to simply sit back and watch as the hacker storyline unfolds more.
