Worlds Collide Replacing NXT TakeOver, Enzo Amore Heading to Raw & New PROGRESS Title Revealed | Wrestling News Update, September 9th 2019

WORLDS COLLIDE TOURNAMENT TO REPLACE JANUARY NXT TAKEOVER

WWE have released the travel package information on Monday for Royal Rumble weekend in Houston. The interesting thing to not is in the events listed, there is a World’s Collide event happening instead of NXT TakeOver.

Pro Wrestling Sheet had WWE sources confirm that is the case and there will be no TakeOver before the 2020 Royal Rumble, with a Worlds Collide tournament in it’s place.

The Worlds Collide tournament is where competitors from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, 205 Live and NXT UK compete in inter-brand matches. This first began at the Royal Rumble Axxess this year.

ENZO AMORE THREATENS TO SHOW UP TO TONIGHT’S RAW

Enzo Amore posted on Twitter that he has bought tickets to tonight’s Monday Night Raw in Madison Square Garden.

Enzo is already banned from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles after pulling a stunt in the crowd at a RAW previously.

DAIN VS RIDDLE STREET FIGHT ANNOUNCED FOR FIRST NXT LIVE EPISODE

WWE announced today that Matt Riddle will face Killian Dain in a street fight on NXT next week on their debut live broadcast, on USA and the WWE Network.

The announcement didn’t specify whether Riddle vs. Dain will be on the USA Network or WWE Network portion.

These two have been on a warpath for the last few weeks, following from Dain’s attack on Riddle, putting him through the stage.

NEW JAPAN ANNOUNCE NEW LOS ANGELES SHOW, NEW JAPAN SHOWDOWN

NJPW has announced that New Japan Showdown in Los Angeles will take place at the Globe Theatre on Monday, November 11th This will follow New Japan Showdown in San Jose, being held at the San Jose Civic on Saturday, November 9th.

New Japan was most recently in the United States for August’s Super J-Cup shows, and the promotion is coming to the East Coast later this month for their Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour.

AEW TV TO HEAD TO NASHVILLE

AEW is heading to Nashville for week seven of their television series, at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday, November 13. This was announced on this weeks Being The Elite by AEW commentator Jim Ross.

Tickets for the episode will go on sale at 11 a.m. Central time this Friday (September 13).

AEW’s current television schedule is as follows:

  • Week two (October 9): Agganis Arena, Boston, Massachusetts
  • Week three (October 16): The Liacouras Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

PROGRESS PROTEUS CHAMPIONSHIP REVEALED

PROGRESS Wrestling revealed their brand-new Proteus Championship in grand fashion on their YouTube channel.

This championship will be won in a 30-person rumble match at Chapter 95: Still Chasing on Sunday, September 15th in Alexandra Palace. The Proteus Champion will be able to dictate the rules for their title.
